Kanzelwandbahn — Attraction in Gemeinde Mittelberg

Strongly recommend choosing a hotel which gives the all inclusive package for cable cars 🚠 in the region. With this package, the cable car is free and the parking is reduced from 9 to 4 EUR.

The Kanzelwandbahn valley station is centrally located in Riezlern. Plenty of parking is available and the queues are always manageable. Special access for wheelchairs or prams is available on demand. The staff is really professional and helpful.

The ride itself is one of the longest in the region as it brings you right to the top of the mountain. Very picturesque and quiet. Once at the top there is a good selection of paths to go round, up or down. A favourite is the 2 country round trek which crosses the border into Germany and back. When I visited this was not open due to snow. ❄️ ALWAYS check the status of the cable cars and paths online on the day you intend to travel. They have a good overview on their website.

We took path number 5 down the mountain back to Riezlern. It's rated easy and we could manage it even as total amateurs. Just make sure you bring the right shoes 🥾for the trek. You'll really suffer with the false footwear as the invoices are step and the gravel sometimes slippery. At the end of the day, this is the Alps not a side street. 🏔️

Definitely recommend this attraction if in the Kleinwalsertal or Allgäu...

Enttäuschend: Wir wollten heute früh mit der Kanzelwandbahn mit vier Familien hoch fahren. Der Parkplatz vor der Bahn war noch halb leer und wir fragten die Parkplatz Einweiserin, ob wir einen vorderen noch freien Platz für unseren VW Bus nehmen können, damit wir später beim wegfahren besser vorwärts rausfahren können. Antwort: nein das geht nicht. Sie meinte noch, wir sollen halt den Heckträger einklappen, dabei war dieser schon eingeklappt. Sachverstand Fehlanzeige! Unser Wagen ist genauso lang wie viele andere PKW,s nur etwas unhandlicher. Sie bestand auf ihrer Reihenfolge des einparkens. Wären wir ein paar Minuten später gekommen, dann wäre der gewünschte vordere Platz an der Reihe gewesen. Aber keine Chance- wir sollen auf einen andern Parklatz fahren…. Gäste behandelt man freundlicher. Gut wir kontaktierten etwas sauer die anderen Familien und fuhren in ein anderes Gebiet nach Deutschland zurück. Die Kanzelwandbahn kann der unflexiblen Einweiserin danken, dass sie ca. Ca. 380€ weniger Bahnumsatz hatten und die Hütten am Berg auch. Familien mit Kindern sollten mit größeren Familienfahrzeugen besser Riezlern meiden. Viel zu enge und teure Parkplätze. Mit den OK-Bergbahnen hatten wir schon am Ifen unfreundliche Begegnungen. Das Kleinwalsertal ist für mich erst einmal erledigt. Es gibt auch noch schönere Gebiete. Zwei anstatt 0 Sterne, weil, das Management wahrscheinlich auch nicht immer mitbekommt, wie ohne Not, Gäste...

Kanzelwandbahn is a great ski area with well-maintained slopes and beautiful surroundings. The runs are enjoyable, and the overall experience is solid. However, it can get quite crowded, especially during peak times, which might take away some of the fun.

Despite the crowds, the skiing conditions are usually excellent, and the lift system works efficiently. If you’re in the area and don’t mind some extra people on the slopes, it’s definitely a good spot...
