All in all a disappointing experience. The Sundance used to be an apartment complex, which has been transformed into a hotel. And this is the fundament of all its problems.||Starting with the Pro’s – the rooms are spacy and light. We had a two-bedroom apartment, clean and quiet. A little kitchen can come in handy too. The hotel is located directly at a ski-piste, so good alpine access.||And now to the Cons – ||Rooms – old-fashioned furniture, not very comfortable. The hotel clearly didn’t want to invest much in this respect. No bathtub in the rooms. Not really acceptable for this price (€250 a night) and a definitive miss after a day of skiing. Very thin curtains, the sun will wake you come sunrise. ||Spa – the spa also couldn’t nearly match the expectations the homepage gave us. The saunas and steamroom are fine and clean, but the look&feel of the whole place is not welcoming. The relax-area involves a number of waterbeds in old-fashioned surroundings, totally uncomfortable, underheated and non-inviting. There is only an outside pool, which in fact is not much more than a plunge-pool, underheated and feeling crowded with more that 5 people in it. The welcoming area for treatments involved a number of dingy, old leather couches and a general 80’ies feeling. Compared to other Austrian hotels in this price category, the spa was poor. Good massage though and nice fitness area.||Hotel – this is where the apartment/hotel conversion shows most. When you enter the main area of the hotel, it is basically one large open combination of lobby, breakfast/dinner/buffet location and sitting-area. Totally uncomfortable, or “ungemütlich” as the Germans/Austrians would say. One corner which could be nice is the open fire area – fitting a flat-screen above the fire ruins that. The place has no warmth, and you can walk into a number of shops which are directly annexed and part of the same building.||Food – poor for the price. Dinner was prepared nicely but very basic. The salad buffet was ridiculous (5 bowls to chose from) and the main courses simple. We ate elsewhere on the 2nd evening.||Other – on arrival, even the 5th floor smelled of kitchen. Acceptable and typical for a 2-star Alpine pension maybe. ||The guests seemed to consist largely of British and East European guests. They seemed inexperienced and happy enough to pay the price. If you have seen other similar-priced spa resorts in Austria and know what you can expect for around the €250-300 mark, this place is definitely not...
Read moreThis year we were the second time at the hotel. ||Pros:||Location is perfect for skiing. You can access both side of the slope system.||The rooms are spacey, you have 3 bedrooms and a living room with a small cooking edge. ||There is a large playing room for the kids down next to the restaurant, so you can take your dinner and talk while they are playing. ||Wellness part is OK. Outside pool is fun, sauna is big enough. ||||Cons: ||The bad room is somewhat small for a family suit and we miss a bath tub a lot. ||The restaurant is rather mediocre. Though we took the half bred, so they might be better a'la carte. Pizza is OK though. ||There is no wifi or mobile net reception in the rooms. I was both side of the Hotel, same situation. This leads to the situation that people sitting in the lobby and staring at their phone or tablet. Instead checking the things after skiing or during the plenty free time taking care of the kids. The available wifi access in the lobby is also unfortunate. You have to log in all the time as they are not giving you a password but a web based login. With my iOS devices I had to reenter the login and password all the time. ||||I would recommend it for a family accommodation. I won't take the half broad again. I will check A3 coverage for mobile net as T-mobile A...
Read moreVery good for families - you are not obliged to go to restaurant for breakfast- dinner-and wait till it's 7pm when you are hungry at 5pm:} There is a decent restaurant downstairs open from lunchtime- so you can choose your time and what will you eat.Withing walking distance there are other restaurants to be able to eat your lunch-dinner. The best quality food would have Edelwais restaurant- 100 m from Sundance. If you want you can have breakfast in a hotel- if not, you have very well equiped kitchen where you can fix your own food. you can order fresh bread and pastry to be delivered to your room if you want- just do it one day before 3pm and hand it to receptionists....lobby area is beautiful with great seating area, there is a nice kids room and only thing about rooms I can complain is that there is too much light from outside in night- due to outer lighting and lights from snow machines. So bring an eye cover. We heard no noises and room was very warm and clean. ||There is a free wifi but only at reception area. They could...
