The family-run brewery Wielemans-Ceuppens operated on a large site here along the Avenue Van Volxem for a century or so before being taken over in 1979 by Artois (nowadays part of AB InBev). The brewery closed in 1988. This particular building was constructed in 1903. It housed a brewhouse and a machine room. The brewing vats no longer exist but a lot of the original machinery has been preserved to this day. Nowadays, the building is known as Le BRASS and it houses the Centre Culturel de Forest and the excellent Bib (Nederlandstalige Bibliotheek).
