We dropped by Honest Coffee, Brussels as a quick pit stop before heading to the station, and honestly (no pun intended), Iâm glad we did. Tucked on a quiet corner, the exterior keeps things classicâtall stone-framed windows, simple signage, and a scattering of tables outside to sit and watch the world go by. It blends in perfectly with the traditional Brussels architecture without trying too hard.
Step inside and itâs got a cosy, home-from-home feel. Warm natural wood, soft neutral tones, shelves stacked with coffee beans, and a relaxed buzz of locals chatting over brunch. It felt less like a âplace to be seenâ and more like youâd stumbled into a friendâs living roomâif that friend could knock out a great brunch and a cracking coffee, which at this point, Iâm wishing more of my friends did.
The menu has a little something for everyone. Think avocado toast, grilled chicken sandwiches, croissants, and a few sweet treats if youâre after a sugar hit. I went for the white cheese toast, loaded with fresh veg and thick, creamy cheeseâsimple, fresh, and properly satisfying without trying to be overly fancy. That extra kick from the wholegrain mustard? Chefâs kiss.
The real standout? The peanut butter latte. Warming, rich, just sweet enough, and with that deep coffee punch that makes you sit up and pay attention. Absolutely banging.
Special shoutout to the guy who served us tooâwelcoming, friendly, and gave the place that extra spark you canât fake.
If youâre after somewhere laid-back, friendly, and chill, Honest Coffee hits the mark. Highly...
Read moreI love this place for so many reasons. I lived in Brussels for two years (as of July 2023) and missed places where I'd feel seen, welcomed, and just at home. Honest is exactly this kind of place.
The owner is almost always there, she would greet you and come check on you and ask if things are fine. The staff is very diverse, friendly. The whole concept of the place is connecting (to) people: you can see it on their website (https://honestbrussels.com/stories/) and the atmosphere - how you are treated and how the whole place is run - is true to the intention.
The drinks and food are very good (cookies are the best!). It's a local place (not in the city centre) so has this local vibe I cherish. You can see people coming for coffee, coming to work for a bit with their laptops; there are also families, owners with dogs just chilling, a group of friends playing board games, a shy couple on a date.
The interior is simple and with great taste. Always good music playing but never too loud so you are actually able to have a conversation with a person you came with). The toilets are gender-neutral (big plus for me as a non-binary person and a rare find in Brussels!). The cafe is LGBTI-friendly, gender-justice oriented, and a woman-run business (you can find it all on their website as well). This is not only a coffee shop but also a local coffee roastery (in case you'd like to buy their coffee). In short, a hidden gem in...
Read moreWe went the 1st November so there was a lot of people since itâs a public holiday day in Belgium. But the staff was really nice and manage to secure a spot for us within less than 10minutes. I ordred the latte hazelnut which was absolutely comforting, itâs like being wrapped up in a hot blanket when youâd drinking it đ° 𧶠Next, I ordered the veggie bun (which wasnât my fav to be honest but you could tell it was made really well so it wasnât their fault, just not my personal favourite đ€·đŒââïž ). I wish they did the âspecial weekendsâ on week days because it looked yum!! Anyway, it was...
