This is the best museum for world war 2 enthusiasts in this region of Belgium bar none in my opinion, its has the most exstensive and rare collection of Ardennes related menorabilia I have ever seen in my life. This Muesum was founded by Michael Boullion, with his collection beginning in the 1960s. Opening it's doors in 1993 the museum is continued by his son Gilles Boullion and receives no funding assistance at all. I learned that Gilles' grandfather was one of the last men to serve within the Belgian Army, and was captured by the Germans, yet escaped on a Bicycle to his family and aided the maquis. This museum is not just another war exihibit , it is a Family legacy, and I was honoured to learn about it. Gilles shows a maximum respect for all those involved in the Battle of The Bulge and proudly displays the most impressive collection of artifacts from a majority of allied countries, including Great Britain and Canada which I feel is often forgotten about within this specific region of Belgium. For those of you who are Passionate about true historical events Connected to personal stories and experiences, do not miss the opportunity to Visit this marvellous place. I am thankful for...
Read moreRemarkable collection of WWII artefacts lovingly assembled and fittingly displayed by the private owner. He and his father amassed the items over 50years and his ongoing passion comes through if you engage. He is willing to chat and share stories of his grandfather’s role. Vehicles on display including tanks, jeeps, motorcycles, bicycles, model aircraft, etc. Loads of weapons too. The presentation, mannequins, scene setting, etc, is exceptional. Information is presented in French, German and English, and lots if it. Highly informative. Sections cover the roles of the Highland Division, the Northampton Yeomanry as well as the Americans in WWII and particularly the Battle of the Bulge (Ardennes). The suffering La Roche went through is poignantly displayed. Highly recommended, and allow plenty of time. 10euros cash for entry, good value. By the way, wear warm clothes if visiting in...
Read moreThis is a really good museum with a fantastic collection of weapons, clothes, equipment, etc. from WWII. Better than what I have seen in more "nationsl/modern" museums. It very much focuses on the battles in the region and what happened to / in Roche de Argonne and its inhabitants during the war, which I think actually works in it favours since it shows both the hereos of the war and the strategic decisions that was made, and how that affected the population on a local level and makes the whole exhibition feels very personal. This is not strange since it is a private collection that was created by the current owners grandpa, who was a belgian soldier during the war. I recommend everyone who passes through the area to visit the museum and read up...
