Sainte Maxime — Restaurant in La Roche-en-Ardenne

Saint-Maxime. I highly recommend this place. A restaurant with so much heart, I wanna give my heart and money to it. 😊 The 'trio de croquettes' and the 'truite ardennaise' stole my heart. So much that everytime I visit La Roche en Ardenne, I have to make a stop here and eat it.(ate it already 3 times here) The service is very kind and makes you feel so welcome. Make sure to book your seat, because without reservation it is hard to get in as it is a small but precious restaurant. Ow... I also tried the famous and legendary 'plat rouge' this means 'red dish/plate' and refers to all seafood that turns red when prepared: scampi, langoustine, gambas and lobster. It looks a lot and it is! Lol. No entrance dish nor dessert needed. And if you wonder. Yes I finished the plate with lots of breaks and mindfulness eating 😉 and a glass of Sancerre. We ended up here by chance after a long hike and I couldn't be happier. I can't recommend this restaurant highly enough. The service was a delight: soft-spoken, friendly, and attentive. We were served a tasty surprise appetizer - carrot soup - which was a fantastic start to the evening. The main course was even better. The host/owner is a very kind and friendly person who made us feel right at home. While waiting we were served a small appetizer free of charge.
