Buyer Beware! I booked this hotel for Christmas vacation and sent them several emails back and forth about tours. They were being so helpful About the tours however, they never sent any write up or prices! In several emails I told them I have a hard time walking and not to book Me on any ruins tours and what did they do- they booked me on 2 different ruin tours. The first day of my vacation it was 40 miles from the hotel and not even a road! I would have had the driver turn back but there was another gal on the tour. I got so car sick from being thrown around in the back seat. It was $130 x2 for a tour I didn’t even want. The 2nd ruins tour I cancelled. They never sent any descriptions or prices then they cancelled my other 2 tours with out even asking me! ! I should have not been charged for Caracol MPR. You never told me what it was nor did you post The price! I would have never said yes to something that is so expensive. I will make sure every one in my network of 50+ years in the travel business being I am a owner of a travel agency and I want every one to knows how bad AND UNREPUTABLE YOUR PLACE IS! Make me pay for service charge adjustment just so you can balance your account. Worse place ever worst food and even worse people! You can take your hotel and stick it where the sun don’t shine!

Never to book with you again!

Next time I will book with Viator! The hotel was...

There isn't anything better than to know that there is a treasured ancient site sitting right in the backyard of your hometown of San Ignacio, Belize. The site is covered entirely with forest, however, nearby traffic noise still reminds you that you are just a few feet away from civilization. Cahal Pech lays a significant platform for archaeology in Belize. It's unique doorways, rooms, drainage, and steps signify the sheer potential of architecture that the Mayas once possessed. Walking within the site will ignite your curiosity of how this once grand civilization evolved and vanished away. The site consist of 34 structures (with more being found each year), all of which has stable stairs and minimum steepness. Rangers are on site from time to time, and a cafeteria sits at entrance front with nourishment and beverages. A fee of $5.00 Bz is charged to each visitor, for only one visit. All payments are made at the visitor center out front. Sundays are free for all Belizean Visitors. Please appreciate the little site of Cahal Pech on your visit, it is one of those places that will remain as a curious memory of archaeological...

Another day. Another Mayan ruin. Yet I can’t get enough of them. Having spent previous trips to South America and Mexico I thought I’d have had enough of them but no, each ruin has a story, a history and that many people lived here as a community once upon a time. This set up is very good. Plenty of parking. Nice entrance, small fee to get in, rooms with descriptions of the site with maps, ceramic pots and artefacts. Toilets are located in this building. Then a short paved walk to the site itself. It’s not large but there was something magical here. Perhaps it was the lack of people. Or maybe the silence except for cicadas and birds. Or maybe even the symmetrical nature of the ruins which with courtyards that feel like a backyard. I sat on my own for some time listening to the wildlife. Feeling the cool breeze rising as the sun went down. The waft of that rainy smell on its way. Perhaps I like this ruin more than others because it’s so peaceful and I felt a humble connection with Cahal...

Review of Cahal Pech Archaeological Reserve Cahal Pech Archaeological Reserve is a captivating destination that beautifully blends history and nature. The site is nestled in a lush, super green environment, with dense vegetation that creates a serene and magical atmosphere. Walking through the reserve feels like stepping into another world, surrounded by towering trees and the sounds of wildlife. The architecture is absolutely stunning and a testament to the ingenuity of the ancient Maya. The intricately designed plazas, temples, and palaces are incredibly well-preserved, showcasing the grandeur of this once-thriving civilization. Exploring the narrow passageways and climbing the structures offers a sense of connection to history, and the views from the higher points are breathtaking. Cahal Pech is a must-visit for anyone interested in history, archaeology, or simply enjoying the beauty of nature. It’s an unforgettable experience that highlights both the cultural and natural wonders of Belize.
