Buyer Beware! I booked this hotel for Christmas vacation and sent them several emails back and forth about tours. They were being so helpful About the tours however, they never sent any write up or prices! In several emails I told them I have a hard time walking and not to book Me on any ruins tours and what did they do- they booked me on 2 different ruin tours. The first day of my vacation it was 40 miles from the hotel and not even a road! I would have had the driver turn back but there was another gal on the tour. I got so car sick from being thrown around in the back seat. It was $130 x2 for a tour I didn’t even want. The 2nd ruins tour I cancelled. They never sent any descriptions or prices then they cancelled my other 2 tours with out even asking me! ! I should have not been charged for Caracol MPR. You never told me what it was nor did you post The price! I would have never said yes to something that is so expensive. I will make sure every one in my network of 50+ years in the travel business being I am a owner of a travel agency and I want every one to knows how bad AND UNREPUTABLE YOUR PLACE IS! Make me pay for service charge adjustment just so you can balance your account. Worse place ever worst food and even worse people! You can take your hotel and stick it where the sun don’t shine!
Never to book with you again!
Next time I will book with Viator! The hotel was...

Read moreAnother day. Another Mayan ruin. Yet I can’t get enough of them. Having spent previous trips to South America and Mexico I thought I’d have had enough of them but no, each ruin has a story, a history and that many people lived here as a community once upon a time. This set up is very good. Plenty of parking. Nice entrance, small fee to get in, rooms with descriptions of the site with maps, ceramic pots and artefacts. Toilets are located in this building. Then a short paved walk to the site itself. It’s not large but there was something magical here. Perhaps it was the lack of people. Or maybe the silence except for cicadas and birds. Or maybe even the symmetrical nature of the ruins which with courtyards that feel like a backyard. I sat on my own for some time listening to the wildlife. Feeling the cool breeze rising as the sun went down. The waft of that rainy smell on its way. Perhaps I like this ruin more than others because it’s so peaceful and I felt a humble connection with Cahal...
