Araribóia was an indigenous native of the Terminós tribe that helped the Portuguese colonizers to expel the French colonizers in Guanabara Bay in the year 1567 AD. The Araribóia's tribe gave logistical support in the war of occupation. The Terminós tribe supported the Portuguese while the Tamoios tribe supported the French. At the end of the confrontation the French were expelled from Guanabara. Tamoios Tribe were massacred and the survivors of tribe fled to occupy the region of the present Cabo Frio City.
