Not as popular as its famous contenders, Ipanema and Copacabana, nevertheless, especially on weekends, can be quite busy with locals, mostly from the popular favela (Portuguese for slum) Da Rocinha, which is located in Sao Conrado, and surfers.
Overall it's a clean beach, with a crystal clear water and a nice promenade with a few bars and restaurants.
