An hour before the scheduled start, we were informed that the tour was postponed to the next day – we understand that unexpected changes can happen, but notifying us only an hour in advance is highly unprofessional. Moreover, the message was only in Portuguese, making it difficult to understand. The entrance was poorly marked, which caused confusion. We expected to see the real behind-the-scenes of the carnival, how everything is made, and the effort that goes into the preparations, but unfortunately, none of that was shown. Instead, the most interesting parts, such as the craftsmanship behind the floats and costumes, were completely skipped. The carnival floats were visible for only a few seconds, which was disappointing. We were not interested in dressing up or taking staged photos. The 10-minute film was incredibly dull and did not provide any new insights. It would have been much more engaging if the guide had shared real stories and details about the...
Read moreThis is something people should know more about. I booked the Samba Experience tour and was blown away by having this behind the curtains immersion in the Carnival world. A tiur guide brought us to the place where the magic happens, we saw the Floats, the costumes and apparels, watched an instructional video, we even had the chance to try the costumes on! Also, a performer came and taught us how to dance (well, she tried...). We then took photos with her and with the costumes on, that was definitely the highlight of the tour. I can't recommend it enough, if you're slightly curious about the greatest show on earth, then this is for you. Samba City is an impressive place, must visit. You can't just show up though, you need to book in advance. Tours are in both portuguese and...
Read moreThe Carnaval Experience was such a great time! Starting with some history about Samba and their particular Samba school, we moved inside to see this past February floats, and they were breathtaking and massive. We then got to see the second floor, which helped the costumes and props of the year, followed by photos and sketches of all they designs. Over 200 people help with this particular Samba school, which is insane! We then got some photos, ops, and a video about what Samba and Carnaval are. Afterward, we were able to try costumes on, and then we received a quick Samba lesson! Finally, we wrapped up with drinking Caipirinhas and shopping the gift shop. So much fun and such a great way to educate people about the beauty of Samba...
