Parque da Independência — Attraction in Região Imediata de São Paulo

One of the most beautiful places in the city! Not as crowded as Ibirapuera or Paulista, but harder to get to... The historic landmark where Dom Pedro II declared Brazil's I from Portugal and home to USP's history museum (under long-term renovations for several more years), it's definitely worth the long-ish trip to Ipiranga to see the beautiful garden on a sunny São Paulo weekend. One of the best places in the city for skateboarding, with plenty of space to spread out for a picnic or sunbathing. Don't miss the Museum Food Truck park at the south end, across the street from the museum - live music, good variety of food, beer, bathrooms, and family and pet friendly. This is the place where Don Pedro declared Brasil independence from the Portugal. Hence,there is a memorial built here to commemorate it. Under the memorial is the crypt of Don Pedro and both his wives are buried under it. However, it is also surrounded by a beautiful park which is filled with skaters and families. A very chilled out place to be. At the end of the memorial is the museum of Ipiranga but it is under renovation till 2022,dont ask me what they are trying to do for so long cause it has been under renovation since 2013. It is an awesome tiring experience! Went there with my wife, our two kids and it took us three hours to go through the whole circuit. There are very few places where you can sit and rest to keep going. Food or drinks are not allowed but you can find a few water fountains near the restrooms. If you're planning to go there, start from the top of the building and work your way down. The gardens and the park is also nice to go.
