Had very bad experience in this old town Nessebar. Went there in November that most places are closed. With a few shops open and coffee places open. Unfortunately I’m having the period so I desperately needed toilet. I circled around and there are many signs of WC charged but all closed. Then I went to a hotel asking politely if I can use their toilet and I can pay, but they simply answer “it’s closed”. Then I went to a shop, buying a bottle of 350ml local low quality “wine” ~ only alcohol plus sugar, paid for 7 euros, and asked if I can use their employee toilet and the lady told me “it’s closed”. I’ve never met such cold and rude people in this world that even you offer money they just simply let you suffer and watch. So won’t recommend to go there at all, when you have kids, or you are a women having period, or anyone who could possibly need a toilet in 2-3...

Beautiful statue and beautifully integrated into the landscape. Even the pathway to it has harmonious lines. Usually filled with birds sitting on it.

To quote from a website:

The statue standing at the harbor of South Nessebar Bay, is frequently and popularly identified as St. Nicolas, patron saint of sailors. However, the artist Stavri Kalinov sees it as a new "Noah" holding a dove, looking for a new land. As E. A. Bucchianeri said, "Art is in the eye of the beholder, and everyone will have their own interpretation."

And another website says:

According to its author, the sculpture represents “the new Noah in search of the Promised Land, and perhaps the dove has found salvation in this blessed...

Standing tall and proud on the approach to old town Nessebar as if protecting the town and looking after the souls who work the seas bringing in the fish to the small harbour. Around the foot is a small selection of gift shops and fresh fish and shell fish stalls. You are able to walk the base of the monument but take care, especially with small inquisitive children as there are no railings to stop anyone falling onto the boulders below into the sea. If you appreciate this work of art your going to love what hides in the...

Upon entering the old town of Nessebar, we are greeted by the well-known and beloved windmill, the most famous emblem of the town. On the southern side of the isthmus, however, stands the new symbol of Nessebar - the statue of the Fisherman holding a cross. It was erected in 2006 and is the work of the sculptor Stavri Kalinov.

Able to go right up to the base of the statue but becareful of the birds high above and also the drop into the sea if you've got little ones. What an entrance into such a beautiful place!
