TL;DR Great hotel, great restaurant, great position, great food+quality and great people + included parking.
Must say going to Bulgaria in Nessebar was quite the experience i did not expect after only seeing the Romanian beaches and people. However Romania has become extremely expensive and simply worth not year.
At St. John the Baptist we had a great interaction with the reception, we could leave and return from the city whenever we wanted and the hotel staff was polite and welcoming.
The hotel has a modern & stylistic architecture based on the ruins of the island, the rooms are clean and offer all the facilities, from tv to electricity to a mini-fridge to a clean bathroom to a balcony (if you want).
Oh yes and if you don't want to pay parking at the North Parking Lot, then you should know the Hotel has its own parking spot for free (you have to enter the pedestrian streets).
You have 2 meals included which are MORE than enough to satisfy your hunger and that truly match the menu.
The food is high quality and the produce is fresh, you are given a lot of variety on the base meals (also check out the St. John Breakfast) and i guarantee you will be full by the 2nd dish.
The only thing you need to pay for additionally is drinks, and that if you are in need for more than what the great base menu already offers you (daily coffee, tea, juice, water etc).
Oh yes and you are ALSO given your own coffee machine in your room which is refilled daily for you to make your own coffee.
Much like the whole island, the hotel respects your privacy and it is silent on the inside. No loud neighbors, no hassle, to fighing no nothing. The onky thing you are certain to hear are the seagulls and that's it.
The hotel+restaurant staff were also wholesome and profesional. Restaurant 24, which is affiliated with hotel St. John, has young, polite, beautiful and jolly waiters that move fast, that can earnestly understand a bit of Romanian, French, German and know a good deal of English, all besides mother Bulgarian.
And allll of this without talking about the great positioning on the island, as you wake up each morning in the middle of the island, in front of all the ruins and between both the beach and the fun.
Genuinely great experience. Love from Romania...
Read moreThe location of the hotel is just stunning, between roman bath ruines and a Byzantine church. We had a wonderful room with a balcony with a view on both of these sites. Even the shower has a lovely view on the ruines, however this also means that people could have a view on you. It is also perfectly located if you want to explore the old town of Nesebar. It is the only hotel in the old town that offers parking. Staff is very nice. They have a terrace in front of the St John church which is lovely for breakfast.
Acces to the hotel by car is a little complicated because you have to enter into the old town and the entry is cut off with a barrier and a guard that doesn't speak English (not belonging to the hotel). They hadn't answered our emails sent beforehand so we had to find a place to park the car and call the hotel for assistance. Once we had them on the phone however, they were very friendly and helpful, and an employee came to meet us with a card to pass the barrier and guided us to the parking.
Breakfast was fine, but wasn't refilled through the morning. As we arrived rather late, there wasn't a lot left. A hotel I would definitely...
Read moreEverything was nice, except one guy working in the restaurant. It was my birthday and we sat down at the table we like and we have been asked to move, even if the reastaurant was almost empty. One buy, very very nice, who was always smilling and polite tried to understand us and and finally accepted us to use that table....but after a minute came back feeling embarresed because the "boss", a young guy didn't accept. It wasn't a special table, just it bothered him.
It was frustrated. He is a bad image for the hotel.
The location is gorgeous, the hotel...love it!
People working here are very very nice, smilling, they upgrated our room...we love it.
Except that young guy who lacks customer services! The other guy should be in charge of it as he is great with people and understand...
