This is a lovely outdoor park (in reality a hill more so) filled with fresh air and tall trees. Be warned, there are quite a few stairs leading up it if you're coming from the city and the stairs themselves are hard to find (they're in a roundabout if you reach the Gallery and continue walking to your right). You can also reach the top with a car but the road leading there is outside of the city. I love going out of the cemented walkways and walking around in the forest on my own since it's close to impossible to get lost if you follow the little wild pathways made from people there before you. Even though a lot of it was recreated under Communist rule and by Russian influence, it's incredible to visit this place and realize what the Bulgarian state must have been prior to the Ottoman Empire coming through. As incredible are the pieces of evidence from the Byzantine times in 500-700, and from even earlier around Roman times. All the things this place must have been. Read moreThe park is really a gem of Veliko Turnovo but it hasn't been maintained well in the past 10 years. Despite that there is a viewpoint with a nice panorama of Tsarevets fortress. Some playgrounds, benches, offroad cycle tracks even skateboard park. At night it has a lot of good views of the city lights. Across the park there are 345 stairs, as it is on a hill.
