This is a lovely outdoor park (in reality a hill more so) filled with fresh air and tall trees. Be warned, there are quite a few stairs leading up it if you're coming from the city and the stairs themselves are hard to find (they're in a roundabout if you reach the Gallery and continue walking to your right). You can also reach the top with a car but the road leading there is outside of the city. I love going out of the cemented walkways and walking around in the forest on my own since it's close to impossible to get lost if you follow the little wild pathways made from people there before you. Go there and enjoy a picnic on the many wooden tables at the top or take the wild card and arrange a picnic...

Such an amazing history here. Even though a lot of it was recreated under Communist rule and by Russian influence, it's incredible to visit this place and realize what the Bulgarian state must have been prior to the Ottoman Empire coming through. As incredible are the pieces of evidence from the Byzantine times in 500-700, and from even earlier around Roman times. All the things this place must have been. Were the Thracians also using this place? Hard to fathom the battle that would have taken place for the Turks to take a hill that was so fortified and so seemingly impenetrable. Wish we had had more time here, and definitely feels like a place we...

The park is really a gem of Veliko Turnovo but it hasn't been maintained well in the past 10 years. Despite that there is a viewpoint with a nice panorama of Tsarevets fortress. Some playgrounds, benches, offroad cycle tracks even skateboard park. At night it has a lot of good views of the city lights. Across the park there are 345 stairs, as it is on a hill. There are some untracked footpaths that connect both ends but there is no lights for those at night. Overall the potential of the park is not...

This is a great place in the centre of Veliko Tornovo. We parked up for a few nights in the car park, and explored the whole city, but kept coming back to this park. The whole area around the art gallery is great. The huge Assen Dynasty monument, the gallery itself, and the sculpture walk on the other side, with a water fountain that has some of the nicest water I’ve ever had!

Well kept park with plenty of greenery and walking paths. You can park next to Cafe 23, grab a coffee and walk 5 minutes to the beautiful Sky Bridge from which you have a birds eye view of Veliko Tarnovo. Inside the park you can find children's playgrounds and wooden tables and benches that all visitors can use.
