We were a little anxious based on the previous reviews, but our stay turned out just fine. Our first impression upon arrival was doubtful as the signage outside the house does not look very official. We arrived early (before noon) and the lady had stepped away, however after a brief phone call she apologized and quickly arranged to have her neighbour show us to our room.||||We did have to walk through a low passage (as mentioned in other reviews) but it really wasn't all that difficult to traverse. It opens up into a nice garden and the entrance to the rooms. Since we were the first guests to arrive, we were given a choice from the 3 rooms, and we chose the bigger one (the other two filled by the end of the day too). We didn't have to use the AC wall unit (for hot or cold) so I can't comment on its noise levels. The room itself was clean, it had everything we needed and the bathroom was small but nice (did not notice a smell as mentioned by others). There is not much natural light in the room (just one big window by the door, with blinds you can control) but that was actually a welcome relief for us as the sun rising at 5:30am had been making it difficult to sleep in elsewhere. ||||The location is great - right by Tsarevets. On the next day the lady was kind enough to let us leave our packed bags there while we explored the city. She even offered to move them to her own house if new guests arrived before we got back. Overall a very...
Read moreThe owner is fine and the rooms on line look fine but when we got to the hotel, we had to walk down a low ceiling passage to 3 rooms. Two had air conditioning and windows, ours was a large room, with no windows, natural light and no air conditioning and it was like an oven. We had friend with us who spoke Bulgarian, and it was agreed that in the morning we could move to another room once the current guests left. In the morning the owners wife acted as the cleaner and when we told her we were to move she went into an aggressive display. Our friends explained to her what was agreed and she was not going to let us move. She would not clean the room as she said it was to hot, but not hot enough for us to sleep in. This debate went on for some time. Our friends asked her to get the manager, she said she was the manager. Our friends told her that we would not have booked accommodation with them if we now this was the sort of room we would get and the web site was misleading and we would let people know via the internet. She stormed off muttering. 10 minutes later she returned and shouting at us and waving us in to another room. The location is good, difficult parking. The owner he is OK, but beware you don't end up in the pitch black oven room from hell. They should be up front and let people know what all their...
