Depending on your major and courses that you're pursuing, it could be a good or bad undergraduate university. I'm doing a BSc. in Biochemistry, so my experience has been good so far. Small classroom sizes are great for the purpose of studying. They allow you to focus and interact more with the instructor and your peers, therefore providing less distractions and a greater sense of direction within the class. However, the limited capacity for students might also pose problems with enrolling into classes. While my major hasn't caused too many problems, other students in more sought-after majors such as computer science, computer information systems (CIS), general studies etc. have likely had it worse when enrolling to core classes. The science labs are accessible, and have all the basic necessities needed for hands-on experience. However, if we need to pursue more complicated and technical goals, some fundamental instruments are unavailable (such as an x-ray crystallographer, higher-grade mass spectrometer, etc). This is only owed to it not being an explicit research university like UBC, which is understandable given the circumstances. The university life isn't too considerable to say the least. Not many events and not too much engagement. But given that it's a small institution, I think the amount of events that happen per year are satisfactory. I also don't appreciate the lack of post-undergraduate options offered by the university, but it hasn't caused much of a problem to me so far. When it comes to locational aesthetic alone, it's genuinely beautiful since it's located in the heart of the Fraser Valley. I'm a man who personally enjoys nature a lot and I love every second outside of the campus' interior. Personally, it appeals a lot to the eye. All in all, it's a good place if you want to study and finish your undergrad, but not the best place if you want to have a pure college-life experience.

I graduated from UFV in 2021 with a major in Finance, and I do not recommend this university, especially for international students. The campus is small, there are almost no co-curricular activities, and the teaching quality in my program was poor. Professors like Nikolas Venema and Raymond Leung didn’t explain concepts clearly, and exams often included material that wasn’t covered in class. It felt like the system was set up to make students fail and pay again. If you’re an international student, think twice before committing your money and future here. Worst teachers i have had in my life and hopefully you guys dont have to go through them.

UFV Continuing Education has been a huge nightmare to deal with. In particular: Jessica Cottrill and Navi Rai.

An $800 unresolved dispute has caused me so much emotional stress and has been very frustrating. I feel I’m being scammed.

Last year in May 2024, I was supposed to have a practicum. I was only given the location and times of my practicum about 3 weeks beforehand…

Unfortunately, I had a scheduling conflict with work and needed to reschedule the practicum. I told UFV and they said I was able to change the dates to another time.

Continuing Education left out an important detail - that I would have to pay the practicum fee of $800. I was never ever informed of this when I was in contact with Jessica from Continuing Ed regarding my situation.

They have taken no accountability for the large error. Their lack of transparency has been very unprofessional. Navi sent me a bunch of useless links trying to back up their story.

The links didn’t say anything about myself being charged a substantial penalty in May, 2024. I see now UFV added in changes to the website. This information was put in after I had the conflict.

Continuing Education has been more interested in arguing than finding a solution. Jessica should have told me about the $800 when I stated I had to make some alterations. I tired reasoning with Navi, who took over communication in the summer for months and it was exhausting. A giant waste of time.

I did not withdraw, cancel, or am not asking for a refund. I’m asking the unjust fee to be waived. UFV was completely dishonest with me and I’ve received no apology.

I was told by Student Services to reach out to Office of the Registrar. I sent them an email complaining; they didn’t even bother to respond to me. Instead they forwarded my email to the person I complained against..

Beware. This university will not communicate properly with you and then try to blame you, and scam you into paying.

I would like to compete my practicum so I can be done with these lousy people.

All I wanted was to further my education and instead it has been a headache. Incredibly disappointed on how I’m...

DO NOT GET ADMISSION HERE. especially in PBD analytics. it is a new program and they have not designed it well. they have added high-level programming and are giving admission to students without programming knowledge and then failing them to get more fees as retakes. I have to write this as anonymous. they have the worst teachers and 50% classes is being failed even after getting a D grade (D grade is a passing grade). people with grade D are being asked to retake the exam as the university is not satisfied with marks (D is passing grade and university satisfaction should not matter as long as students are passing) It is a waste of your money because they will not let you pass. Their coordinator JULIE CROFT this women never listens and as soon as you give her logical reply on email she stops replying to your email. this is the level of work she does. she talks to each student personally and then gives false information. she told one student that if they do not get good grade they wont get work permit (she is full of uselessness). Their stat professor Tariq Narruddin he does not teach well and then fails students he does not like. he passes students who makes food for him and he loves flattery. one professor Ao Ao Feng he teacher programming and he teaches to himself not to class and then he says he cannot slow down because he has to complete syllabus. I am currently in the process of writing letter to IRCC regarding this as i contacted IRCC and they asked me write an official letter to them. i hope they will...
