We stopped in at Browns for a quick bite thinking it'd be like most of the other Brown's we've been to around the Lower Mainland. Must have been a bad night for them, it was very disorganized. Food came out slow and to the wrong tables. Lots of confused and irritated glances at the tables around us. Not to mention the prices were very high. Happy hour menu was decent - had some affordable and interesting options but lots of fried food! We settled on Fried Chicken and Pickles as well as a Avocado & Yam Roll. Both were decent enough. I would try something new next time, maybe off the legit menu which seemed to be a bit more diversified. Victor, our server, was the only saving grace. He seemed to be handling the pressure pretty well and did his best to accommodate amidst the kitchen struggles.

I had a lacklustre experience at another Brown’s 10 years ago and never revisited. I came here with my friends recently and was really impressed with my Tiki Tuna Poke Bowl!! I was unsure at first because I asked the server if it looked like the photos in the reviews, she said “no, it doesn’t look like that here” but offered no other details… glad I ordered it because it was fresh and delicious. Plus it was the only thing appealing on the menu (they should work on that). Their lemonade was also yummy. My friends got these chicken bites and they were dry and horrible, think it’s not on the menu anymore (just checked). Also our server took a really long time for everything but was very nice. Their sign at the back is hilarious, I would come back just for that too.

The six of us came for lunch after church. I found the front desk a bit far into the restaurant. We asked to be outside on the patio and were shown the way. Our server took our drink order and left us to choose our mains. When the coffees and drinks arrived, we placed our orders. We had a salad, Dragon Bowls, Salt & Pepper Dry Ribs, a Smokehouse Burger, & French Dip. It took quite a while for the order to come up, but all the plates arrived together nice and hot. Our server brought us water and coffee a couple of times, and then left us alone. Eventually she by to ask about the bill. Even then it was a while before she came with the card reader. That French Dip was wonderful. Give this place a shot, you’ll like it.

I’ve been to this restaurant before and enjoyed it, so my husband and I came back to catch the end of the Abbotsford Canucks game—with our baby.

My husband arrived first and ordered a beer. When I joined him a few minutes later and ordered a drink too, the server came back and asked only me for ID. I didn’t have it with me—which I understand can be an issue—but what didn’t make sense was the inconsistency.

My husband, who is younger than I am, wasn’t asked at all. He even offered his ID and asked if she needed it too. The server said nothing. No response, no explanation—just awkward silence.

For the record, I’m 30. But apparently, I give off “teenage mom with an older husband” energy.

It was a strange and uncomfortable moment that left us feeling singled out without reason. We chose to leave.

I respect ID policies. But when they’re applied selectively and without communication, it reflects poorly on the service and training. There are better places in Abbotsford—where staff are consistent, respectful, and able to respond with basic empathy.

In response:

Hi Shawnna,

I absolutely understand the need for strict ID policies, especially with increased oversight from the liquor board. My concern wasn’t about being ID’d—it was the inconsistency in how it was applied and the lack of communication in the moment.

It would have made a big difference if the server had simply explained why I was being asked and my husband wasn’t, especially when he offered his ID and was ignored. Instead, the interaction felt awkward and dismissive, which ultimately impacted our experience.

I appreciate you taking the time to follow up and hope this kind of feedback helps support your staff in being both consistent and clear with guests...

Our dining experience at Browns Socialhouse was nothing short of spectacular, and the shining star that made it truly exceptional was none other than our server, Brady.

From the moment we walked in, Brady's warm and welcoming demeanor set the tone for a delightful evening. His infectious enthusiasm and genuine smile created an inviting atmosphere that instantly made us feel at home.

Brady's knowledge of the menu was impressive, and he effortlessly guided us through the diverse offerings, providing insightful recommendations that perfectly suited our preferences. His attention to detail and commitment to ensuring our satisfaction were evident throughout the meal, making our dining experience not just enjoyable but memorable.

What truly stood out was Brady's impeccable timing and intuitive service. He seemed to anticipate our needs before we even realized them ourselves, ensuring that our glasses were never empty and that each course arrived at the table with precision. His professionalism was matched only by his friendly and approachable demeanor, striking the perfect balance that enhanced our overall dining experience. I will surely be going to Browns Socialhouse McCallum more often, and always...

We tried this restaurant for the first time. I ordered the steak and sushi for $26 and I was surprised when I got my order. The steak looked like the size of a 4 oz, I felt like asking if they forgot the other half in the back somewhere. I’m fairly experienced with sushi and have eaten sushi in various restaurants for years and I have never had cucumber and onions in a spicy tuna roll. The cucumber and onion actually made it taste like a tuna fish sandwich. Typically when you get a spicy tuna roll the tuna is a chunk of meat and not a small amount of shredded tuna mixed with onion, there was actually more cucumber in the roll than tuna, but it’s called a spicy tuna roll. The vegetables that came with the steak were cooked well and were very tasty and so was the sauce. My wife and son really enjoyed their burgers and fries and would definitely go back for the burgers again. My daughter had the fish and chips and enjoyed it but unfortunately some of the white meat was tough, a little over cooked in the deep fryer. The environment was very nice and the waitress...
