i came in to the hill today I was in a rush because my partner and i were late meeting friends here

I quickly grab the pass off my jacket to put on a jacket I am borrowing, it ends up being my last years pass

this year I got an rcr card and connected it to my credit card, so we can go up without going to guest services so my partner scans her card with no problem, payed for thru my credit card, then I go to scan mine and something went wrong

I did not know I grabbed the wrong pass, it was a complete accident they tell me to wait for someone from guest services

a supervisor named Eva shows up and immediately says I am trying to steal a day and that I knew what I was doing, I had no idea. i didnt even know I still had my last years pass

she didn't ask what happened, she didn't care what I had to say she just came up with the conclusion on her own

she then charged me a $20 fee for "stealing" or something even though I didn't know, I planning on paying for the day on my rcr card

it was a complete misunderstanding but she didn't want to hear any of it.

I work at the mines here in the valley, I have lived in fernie for 7 years and have gotten a seasons pass the last 5 years, it's not about the money, I am doing okay, no reason to try n get a day for free or whatever

I feel like garbage now, don't even want to be here and never even really want to come back after getting treated that way

something should be said to her, I understand she is trying to prevent this from happening but to just come in like that accusing, not knowinging anything about what happened

it's ridiculous

not really about the 20 bucks, just getting treated like a criminal for an accident like that, the "extra fee" is just the cherry on top

edit: I went back in to confirm her name. She's a supervisor, and everyone in there was very elusive and giving her...

Have been waiting for years to post to Fernie's resort. Lived there for 3 years. 2008 to 2011. Canadian resort mostly only comment on their positive points, completely disregarding reality. Only place l have ever been given plastic garbage bags to keep the rain off, but that was nice. The resort posted -3 that day. Be careful where you ski on foggy days the signage for closed runs suck. Lots of foggy days. Was following some locals who lead me into a closed run. Pass pulled. Speaking of locals, they are the main reason I left. They hate everyone, Calgaryians the most, American next. But the Europeans are by far the nicest people there. Sweds, Finns, Norwegian are some of the best folks in the world. Still have friendships across the big water. Beware of French/German, French Canadian are great. Aussie/Zealanders can be excellent, lots of resort staff come from those countries. Would not go to a local bar alone without my Nordic buddies. Learned to Love hockey, still watch alot. In short Fernie can be really good, but mostly NOT. Ps only place that I have ever been stopped by Royal Canadian police for alcohol check exiting the resort. To ski here you have to carry a quiver, big body powder boards, carvers tuned for ICE. All mountain mid-fats mostly work ok, but bring your tuning tools. Gear is expense, my Swedish buddies spent $1500/2000 each on a trip down to the states. Do not try to read to much into this. There are some excellent Canadians, Mostly English. Only place l have ever been discriminated against because of my nationality. Visiting can be good but do NOT stay long. Mountain biking is some of the BEST in the world. Only place that I have been chased by a grizzly bear, carry...

terrain is amazing, but one of the female members of the ski patrol team was very disrespectful and unprofessional. Her name is Skye. my friend broke his ankle, we had to call ski patrol. her customer service was great at the start; but we soon found out from our injured friend, that she had said to us “respectfully, i never want to see either of you back on this resort.” this was said inside the ski patrol medical building, for no apparent reason. but we were not aware of what was said until our friend was released from the hospital. we didn’t do anything wrong, we assisted ski patrol and our friend as much as we could, arranging rides, and collecting belongings: I guess being a good friend is frowned upon by skye @ fernie ski patrol. if your job title is based around helping injured people, maybe help them, instead of judging the uninjured people whom hadn’t done anything wrong. “don’t judge a book by its cover” Skye; You should read this quote many X/day and maybe before may of 2025, just maybe, you’ll learn how to not be judgemental. leave your insecurities at home. ski patrol’s job is to help people when needed, the last thing on the mind of any ski patrol member should NOT be to judge them. (we didn’t do anything wrong, we tried to help as much as we could, and we’re treated in a very condescending manner, by Skye.) disclaimer: don’t accidentally hurt yourself @ fernie or you may have such a horrible experience with ski patrol, that you may never feel the need to come back :) 1 star. hire staff doesn’t give your...

Fernie in British Columbia was our first stop on our Powder Highway road trip, and it was such a cool little town. Beautiful scenery, a great ski resort, awesome food, cute little shops and the friendliest people. Here’s what to put on your list for a winter weekend in @tourismfernie: Activities: ▫️Ski at @ferniealpineresort ▫️Snowshoe at Mt. Fernie Provencial Park ▫️Catch sunset on the Montane Trail ▫️Check out the town center Hotel: ▫️Tiny houses at @snowvalleylodging Eat (all have vegan options): ▫️Himalayan Spice ▫️Curry Bowl ▫️Funky Goat Pizza ▫️Yamagoya Save this post for your future planning, and make sure to check our current travel restrictions before you go. #ferniebc #fernietourism #ferniestoke #hellobc #britishcolumbia #beautifulbritishcolumbia #ferniealpineresort #canada #skitrip #powderhighway

This is a lovely mountain - as you can see, there is a 360 mountain range around the ski hill and you really feel like you're on top of the world. At the top, you can see the condensation accumulating just above the mountain peaks, as well as bright areas illuminated by breaks in the clouds, truly a breathtaking experience. But just a few heads up for the snowboarders, if you decide to go up the Bear chair (which you can only access via Elk), be sure that you're comfortable with narrow paths and precipitous edges - don't let the fact that it's considered a green run throw you off!! It took me a long time to go down this path and I would have had a better day had I left Bear for the end of the day or after I've gotten more runs in. The height alone is very intimidating for a certain people, even the skiers that I went with. It's not surprising that the majority of the people I saw here were skiers, there are many narrow flat spots that skiers would have no problem with but that snowboarders would either have to have enough momentum to keep going or would have to walk. Snowboarding newcomers should stick to deer or elk chair to get the most out of their stay. FUN FACT: the wooden cabin pictured below (that you can see on the right hand side as you're going up the Elk chair) is the location for Hot tub Time machine 1 & 2!

I grew up in Fernie and watched this family owned ski business grow into a world class resort. Regardless of your ability, you will have many parts of the mountain to explore. The hill has been built over three natural mountain bowls which provides stunning views from the top. The runs that have been carved into the sides of these bowls provide steep and aggressive terrain for expert level skiers and boarders who want to shred the hill. The centers of the bowls provide gentle slopes for those who come for a relaxing day enjoying moderate terrain with lots of tree runs. Fernie is famous for its powder. Due to its location, the snow is dry and light and after a good dump will give you a powder day that you will never forget. The resort is located low in the mountain so the lower runs are subject to warmer weather. It’s not uncommon to have melting snow and ice at the bottom with great conditions at the top. There are hundreds of rental opportunities right on the hill including many ski-out lodges. There are re also large home that sleep multiple families available for rent. The town of Fernie does not have many restaurants or places to enjoy night life for a resort of this size. This is the biggest negative to choosing this location over other options like Whitefish.
