Safety concern. Sanitary concern .
We recently stayed in room 1203 April 2024 Overall a lovely resort. It looks like it hasn't been renovated since it's opening our room was outdated by at least 20 years but in fairly decent condition. The beds were extremely comfortable and the linen was definitely freshly cleaned so I would say a great job by the cleaning staff for the laundry.
The rooms are spacious and the kitchenette is very well equipped so we really appreciate that.
I have to concerns though. There are no screens on any of the sliding windows. I believe that there should be especially if you're concerned about flies and mosquitoes and want fresh air. Room number 1203 had absolutely no screens on any of the windows. It also is easy if you're not extremely cautious or careful with children they could accidentally be drawn to the window to look down at the scenery. I believe there should be a child mechanism that only allows the window to be open up a certain width so children can't follow out. That is my opinion anyways.
The upstairs washroom shower was unusable and unsanitary. It was not draining properly and the water was coming back up into the shower stall leaving debris which looked quite on sightly and probably unsanitary. So the upstairs shower was unusable. There is a restaurant however it doesn't open for breakfast so you will need to be prepared to go to a restaurant nearby or bring your own food for cooking breakfast. The kitchen is very well equipped for that which was great. I really wish there was a breakfast option for guests such as a breakfast buffet or even coffee in the lobby. Excellent location for people using the ski hill. They do actually offer lift tickets in the lower entrance near the parking garage and I think they also have ski equipment. I was advised by the ski hill that the hotel does not sell tickets when in fact they actually do sell.. at this resort at least. There is underground parking which is included. The fireplace in the living room is very nice touch.
Very reasonably priced resorts hotel I would definitely love to come back again someday.
If you're interested in the ice bar in the lobby restaurant area I was disappointed that you cannot just walk in and grab a single shot there is I think a three or four shot minimum. And I believe that they only have vodka stocked in the ice bar itself. I'm a whiskey man and I would have liked to whiskey but I was out of luck .
Thank you to all the hard working staff in and around Fernie we really enjoyed...
Read moreGreat location and views, pool and hot tub are great, and our room was very nice/spacious but dated.
We've only been here one day but the major issue was the inexplicable check in process. Hands down the worst I've experienced, even when comparing to a 1 or 2 star property.
Such condescending behavior for absolutely no reason. One example was that WE had to initiate the conversation when we walked in, absolutely no welcome whatsoever, didn't even get up from the seat...made to feel completely like we were a burden...and again that's just walking in the property for the first time, in a town we've never visited and so excited to see.
The simple ask of where to park got us a point of a finger to the map and nothing else, no words, as though they were speaking to someone who couldn't understand.
When calling the property just 2 weeks prior, we were told we would have our 3 rooms (there are 12 of us) near each other in the same building. When we arrived though, we were told that could not be accommodated and another party got the room.
Knowing that this was clearly something we were expecting (we had a lot of groceries so that we could all make and have breakfast/lunch together) all that was said was that nothing could be done as the computer booked another party in, and that no one should have told us that the rooms would be together as they can't guarantee that. Again, knowing this was something we were expecting, there was not one attempt at figuring something else out, such as maybe move the 1 family into where the other 2 would be but in a different room type; not one attempt or let me see what I can try and do whatsoever.
Not only that, when the family member who's room was now in another bldg tried to speak, they were continuously interrupted AS they were speaking with "I heard you, but there's nothing we can do", on 3 to 4 attempts, and didn't even let the person finish speaking.
A couple of small but very inconvenient things were that 2 of 3 TVs in our room don't have remotes to turn them on...so even if youget up to turn on the TV, there's no way to control volume. Secondly there is a night stand with a lamp on it, but no plug in for it; or for any device you may want to plug in and charge.
Hopefully the rest of the week goes smoothly, as we are all now very uncomfortable and wary going to ask the front desk...
Read moreIn September of this year my friend got married at Lizard Creek Lodge. Definitely not what we were all expecting. The wedding organizer at Lizard Creek was VERY helpful, but the front desk... not so much. One of the girls went to the front desk to ask for sewing kits and shower caps, only to be told that they "didn't have any," without them getting up to check at all. After questioning a little further, she was told to go look in the storage room herself, where amazingly, she found boxes of both sewing kits AND shower caps. The bride requested more towels and shampoo/conditioner in her room, and got none of it. When trying to check in one of the groomsmen was told that he wasn't booked for the night (although he definitely was), then after the groomsman assured the front desk that he booked a room, he was told they had booked him in the other chalets! When renting Lizard Creek Lodge, the lodge itself is supposed to be reserved for the wedding party and all of its guests. Halfway through the actual ceremony (which takes place in front of the fireplace in the lobby) random people were coming in to check in. The bride and groom bought wine from Lizard Creek Lodge, only to find that they forgot to order it for the wedding! Luckily they discovered this before the liquor stores in Fernie closed, and bought wine for the dinner. After dinner and before the dance we had scheduled a slideshow. We were told months before hand that they did not have a projector, but did have a screen. Ok, no problem, I brought a projector for the slideshow. When it was time to run the slideshow, we discovered that no screen was put up. I,personally, questioned the front desk asking where it was, only to be told that they didn't have one. I responded that yes, I had talked to the wedding co-ordinater earlier that day, and she confirmed we had a screen for the slideshow. Then they decided to tell me that we obviously didn't book the screen, which was on the wedding program that the Lodge made. Usually I am a calm and understanding person, but this put me over the top. After, admittedly, throwing a temper tantrum telling them to actually get off their a$$es and look for one.... they found the screen in the back room. Surprisingly.
TLDR; Nice hotel to stay at for a vacation, but NEVER use this place for special occasions (weddings,...
