⬇️ Learn more about these cool finds below ⬇️! There were so many neat nature things to observe in Cox Bay, Tofino when staying at the @pacificsands 🤩! 1. Eccentric Sand Dollar - often found on shallow, sandy beaches in Tofino, these flattened sea urchins have a beautiful flower pattern on their top side. When they’re white, they’re no longer alive - this is just their ‘test’ (exoskeleton). Living sand dollars are covered in spines and tube feet. 2. Feathered Boa Kelp - this funky algae can grow over five metres long in the rocky subtidal and mid-intertidal. They have a flattened stipe with lots of small blades, giving the kelp a feather boa appearance. 3. Orange Jelly Spot: this fungus is bright orange and jiggly in the fall, and can be found growing on wood in forests and apparently also at the beach! 4. Bull kelp: one of the fastest growing plants in the world is bull kelp, growing 25cm (100ft) per day up to about 30m (10ft). The float keeps the blades up near the surface for photosynthesis, and the stipe connects to the holdfast, which is the plant’s anchor. They form kelp forests, providing many species with nutrients and habitat. 5. California mussel: this west coast marine bivalve has a thick blue shell that can reach up to about 8 inches long. They are edible for humans, however harvesters must be vigilant to red tides which may cause toxins causing shellfish poisoning. #tofino #tofinobc #staypacificsands #beachwalks #naturalist #kelp #sanddollar #beachcombing

what a treat!🌅💖🌈🐡✨ Make sure to go to a beach for sunset (even on moody davs) in Tofino because you never know what will happen. This was on Chesterman Beach but Cox Bay Beach is another great spot to watch the sun go down. #tofino #britishcolumbia #sunset

7 things to do on Vancouver Island | We spent a rainy holiday weekend exploring this beautiful island and were blown away by how magical this destination could be even with lots of rain ☔️ Below are some of our favorite experiences: 1. Cox Bay Beach — Fun beach to walk end to end with tide pools at south end and Sunset Point Walk at the north. Also many surfers to watch. 2. Rainforest Trail-B — Route B starts from the far right side of the parking lot. This scenic Rainforest Trail is one of the most popular hiking trails among locals and visitors in the Tofino-Ucluelet area. 3. Wild Pacific Trail — It offers spectacular shoreline panoramas and seaward vistas through ancient cedar and spruce-framed viewing platforms constructed on the best headlands along the route. 4. Black Rock Resort — Beautiful place to stay with breathtaking vistas of the Pacific Ocean, tucked away in the rainforest. 5. Afternoon tea at the Empress — A grand tradition for over a century, the world-renowned Fairmont Empress has served England’s most beloved ritual of afternoon tea to famed royalty, celebrities, dignitaries, and us. 6. Butchart Gardens — A must-see garden oasis in Vitctoria. The flowers have been blooming at Butchart Gardens for nearly 120 years and counting. 7. Whale watching out of Victoria — If you go during peak season (May-October) there’s greater than a 95% chance of spotting whales in Victoria, particularly resident orcas, humpback whales, and transient orcas. SAVE this as you plan a trip to Vancouver Island. ✈️🌎 🎥 @thecapturingcouple #vancouverisland #vancouver_canada #britishcolumbiacanada #vancouverislandguide #canadatravel

When I saw Cox Bay, I thought I had found California in BC! On a sunny summer day, this beach with midsized waves is swarming with surfers, so there’s plenty of entertainment in the form of spectating. There are no services, aside from restrooms, but plenty of people pack in their lunches. There is plenty of shoreline to lounge, and dead tree trunks allow for some benched seating, but we brought our own picnic blanket and cold beverages. Parking can be hard to come by, as leading up to the park on the weekend you can see lines of cars parked on the side of the road on the entrance to the park. We arrived just after lunch, and were able to find a parking spot from surfers who had taken the morning shift. The sand on the beach is fine and warm. It’s a dog friendly beach too, so pups are able to lounge and play as long as they are on leash. A wonderful way to...

Cox Bay Beach is located on the southern edge of Tofino and is certainly a draw for surfing , beach walking , and photography..the white sandy beaches look out to the Pacific Ocean..there are sections of the beach with quite a number of driftwood logs that certainly attract a tourist’s attention…we picnic and enjoy the wide variety of activities..I particularly enjoy to photograph large crashing waves with a strong energy present when large waves hit their height and then come down with a crushing...

Beautiful bay and Beach area for any Tofino visitor and localites alike. If you're lucky, you will also be able to spot bald eagles either perched atop the spruces or flying around the area. There are easy hikes on both sides of the bay which can offer amazing sunset views and sights of surfers doing their bit in the pristine waters. There are resorts around the beach and these look like definite luxury spots...
