Tldr: There were more tentacles than expected or needed.
Background: I went with my boyfriend and played the pirate one. I have decent experience with escape rooms.
Pros: Staff very helpful and friendly, we didn't quite finish in time but they let us stay for a bit longer since there wasn't anyone booked ahead of us.
The puzzles which were actually puzzles and not random tasks were decent.
The focus on an adventure instead of a progression of puzzles was interesting and not something I'd seen before.
Cons: A lot of the puzzles/tasks in the first room felt very repetitive.
Interaction with the gadgets felt very clunky and it felt like there was a lot of time wasted because the electronics would take a long time to work. (ie, buttons take a long time to respond)
The cut scenes take way too long to get through and don't add to the experience, we only get 50 mins in the game and I don't want to spend 10 of them waiting for cutscenes to finish playing.
A lot of the tasks we are directed to do feel like busywork, there is no thought required at all and getting through them feels like a chore. The most egregious example is thing with the tentacles, though the part where you had to pass what is essentially a game of pure luck by jabbing the same (not very responsive) button over and over again until the task finishes comes in a close second.
Final thoughts: I was excited to try this because it has good reviews but both me and boyfriend agreed that this experience was more frustrating than fun. Perhaps it plays better with more people, or a younger target audience? The unique premise is interesting but was not...
Read moreProbably the best escape room I've been to! And for reference I've been to escape rooms at 5 different companies across Canada, including this one.
We did the Legend of Dragons room with three people. The puzzles were so much fun! It is the most interactive escape room I've ever tried. I also suffer from night blindness and didn't find the room difficult to navigate like some other companies that make their rooms so dark it's almost impossible to see. We got to use wands to interact with elements in the room, which was awesome.
The story was fun and matched with the puzzles better than other rooms I've tried. The difficulty level of the puzzles (this was the second most difficult room) for three adults was just right - they weren't so easy to solve that it was boring or so hard to solve that it was frustrating. Also the best thing about this place is if you're stuck on a puzzle for too long a hint is displayed on the screen so you don't need to stand around forever debating if you should use the buzzer and risk wasting one of your few precious hints.
The storage lockers for your personal belongs are inside the room, which adds an element of security. The staff are very friendly and informative. The room was easy to book online and we were greeted and shown to our room right away when we arrived. We also were assigned to our own private room - and not forced to join another group because there were only 3 of us like some other companies do on the weekends.
The price is a few dollars more expensive than other companies I've been to - but honestly it's worth it for that experience.
I cannot wait...
Read moreWe were quite disappointed with the communication we had with the company. We had organized an event with Bamboozled and had a discount as we are part of a community soccer team. Bamboozled had previously promoted themselves to our youth soccer club and provided discounts to our club. Based on the premise of offering us a discount for our soccer affiliation we booked with them. However when we arrived there only then were we told that their rules for using the soccer club affiliation was so strict. They said that only if we were having a soccer tournament or event and then brought the kids would they honor the discount. If they were going to be so specific in giving this discount, they should have said so either verbally or in writing earlier, which they didn't. When we arrived, they would not honor the club discount even though they agreed in email. Their reason was that we didn't tell them it was for a birthday party but i didnt know we had to be so specific in stating it's for a birthday since we did not need to book their party room. Since everyone already showed up, we were obligated to pay a much higher price. My wife was upset and we were not prepared to disappoint my daughter so we paid their fees because we had no choice. We would...
