Donair Delight — Restaurant in Burnaby

This was my first time here since it has gone under new ownership. I used to love coming in and seeing the old man never smile and just be so matter of fact about everything lol. And I even love the fact that he was still always “cash only!”

That being said I just came from there about half an hour ago today so about 1:30 PM May 16, 2025. It is definitely brighter in there. It has been modernized and there are more options for food. You can even use a debit card or credit card now! It’s nice that it is modernized and it tastes like the same flavours as when I used to go there many years ago. The young guys working there did a great job with updating the place and overall. The portions for food were pretty generous, which is always great to see. If I have to nitpick, I would have to say my only complaint is that when I went in there around lunchtime, there was no chicken for the chicken plate available. Mind you, they said it would just be just a little while to cook it but unfortunately, I was in a bit of a rush and just needed to get food to go. The prices are pretty average compared to other Donair shops. I would come back here and hopefully get the chicken next time. If I can give 0 stars I would. Very rude guys, I asked for lamb donair platter. I can tell the meat on the grill is ready to cut. And the meat they are storing is old. So I asked if I can have fresh, they totally ignore me and ask if I want a bag! And when I ask why he doesn't cut it for me he said it's not ready. So they finish the plate, I walk out for 2 seconds and I decide am not gonna let this fly, I come back in to return it or remake it. And he's already CUTTING THE MEAT HE SAID IS NOT READY!!! I politely asked to either refund me or remake it. And in the rudest way he takes out a 20 from the register and tries to refund me like that!! As if am begging from them! Disgustingly rude! This place has been here for years and I'm just trying it now haha and it was worth the wait.

Yummy authentic food. I got the chicken platter and the chicken and the rice itself was so flavourful. The Hummus is delicious it's so creamy and not super garlicky tasting.

the hot sauce is hotter than some other donair places so becareful depending on if you're use to mild but the spice does not linger for long.

Great for a quick pick up if you're wanting something quick and don't want to cook.

I got Beef samosas from them but have not tried it yet or their pistachio Baklava that I got for dessert.
