Don't let that fool you - this unassuming little shop serves the best authentic takeout sushi in Burnaby! The sushi here strikes a perfect balance between American and Japanese styles. The fish is expertly sliced and paired with an ideal portion of rice, creating a satisfying bite that's neither too large nor too small. For those looking for lighter options or budget-friendly choices, Taku offers sandwiches and Japanese rice balls (onigiri) at lunchtime. These alternatives provide great value without compromising on taste! Oh and the Teriyaki beef is well balanced as other people said! Tips preset at 15% up at the card machine.

This is a very unassuming location, a small restaurant that is tucked away at a corner of a strip mall, almost out of sight. But, what a discovery! The food was amazing, with fresh ingredients, great quality of seafood used, and nice portions. I had the Aburi Inari Sampler and the Ebi & Gyu Don, and they were both delicious. Flavourful combination of dishes that I haven’t tried before in other Japanese restaurants. Customer service was very friendly and courteous from start to finish. Overall, this is a hidden gem that I am very glad that I discovered. Very lovely place.

Taku is open for dine in. Just 2 small tables. <3 This little restaurant is currently take out only. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. We saw many people come and ask questions and they took the time to answer and accommodate. The food is fresh and tasty. Definitely done well. I really liked my Inari sampler and the rolls were very good as well. The Oshi seems to be a big selling point. Don’t let the exterior fool you, definitely worth coming in to order something out.

I’ve lived in the neighbourhood for almost 30 years and I’m so glad to see that we have a new, quality Japanese restaurant! I ordered the Taku Teishoku for takeout and it was excellent!!!! I was really impressed with the packaging and the quality and freshness of the ingredients! The Sunomono so refreshing! The oishi sushi tastes great! It was just as good as Miku or Minami. The portions are decent as well. I’ll definitely be back :)

RECOMMENDED. I came here for a late lunch; ordering a beef donburi. It was delicious! I love rice bowls and I get very particular about the teriyaki sauce. Some places have them too diluted and some are overkill. What they have is a nice balance. Additionally, I genuinely enjoyed vibe and their service. They're very kind and welcoming. Don't hesitate to come! Their review numbers may not be a lot to you, but they're honestly great!

Recently opened in my neighbourhood. Owned by a friendly couple who bring out the best of each ingredient. Tried original teishoku, tsuke salmon don, and a couple of rolls today. Everything is made with high quality ingredients and care. I highly recommend this restaurant to those who are looking for a good sushi restaurant in the neighborhood.
