South Glenmore Park is a scenic waterfront green space at the Glenmore reservoir on Elbow river. It has a colossal children playground with lots of amazing equipment to amuse children of all ages, a sizable splashpad, and an area with several musical instruments such as pianos and drums for music lovers, near the reservoir.
There are hiking and biking paths, a large number of unpaved and winding trails, and beaten paths. While walking on the gravel trail, right beside the elbow river - the narrow and somewhat challenging trail is squeezed between the river and forest, it is not uncommon to see people fishing at various places and sailing in their own or rental boats.
The park has a sailing club and school from where canoes, kayaks, or sailing boats may be hired and boating may be learned. It, also, has tennis courts and a bicycle pump station.
I parked my car at the Weaselhead park's parking lot and walked the 5.5 km paved trail from Weaselhead park to South Glenmore park and back; it has incredible landscapes of forests, jungles, river, valleys, myriads of trees, wild vegetation, and many beaten trails on either side of the trail.
The park has clean washrooms, picnic tables, and a water fountain near the playground, and it has several view points, a gazebo, and tons of benches all over the park.
This is an alluring, scenic waterfront place with splendid views - a must visit place - that has lots to offer to all...
Read moreSouth Glenmore Park is a beautiful park to take your kids to. They have a variety park where there are literally a variety of games for kids to play and keep occupied. In the centre of the variety park is a an area with lots of water sprinklers and and a rotating water dropper, children sure enjoy this play a lot. There are showers just outside the washrooms. And the washrooms are really clean. There is a covered picnic area in one of the sides and atleast 6 picnic tables right besides the sprinklers. One can have food set up and relax while the kids have a good time in the water. There is also a walking trail along the Glenmore reservoir and numerous sitting benches along the trail. We also saw a lot of people fishing at the lake. There are no BBQ pits in the south Glenmore Park, so if at all one wants to BBQ, it's best if you carry a portable one. There are enough of covered waste bins in and around the park. And a big enough...
Read moreAmple parking. Good playground with a good variety for children of all ages. There are public bathrooms right next to the playground that seem to be in alright condition (only used once and they were as clean as one could expect). There are a few picnic tables in the playground area, too. It looks like there's a splash pad in the warmer months, too.
The trail along the reservoir is well maintained and has a nice view. There are benches sporadically off the trail overlooking the reservoir. The music garden is next to the playground and near the trail so sometimes you'll hear music from kids and adults trying out the instruments.
Reservoir looks to be a good place to fish (usually a few people scattered fishing). The dock is large (no fishing off of it, though) and there are sailing lessons offered to kids and adults. Kayak rentals are...
