This pub has been here for a very long time. It used to be called The Point and Feather 🪶 when they had darts here. It has since undergone a major renovation and no longer has darts which must be why they changed the name to only The Point. The Decor is good and layout is great if you want to be off on your own or with the main crowd. The pool šŸŽ± table was unlocked when we were there so we sat and played pool for a few hours. It was great fun. A HUGE Shout out goes to Brie as she checked on us constantly and automatically brought refills on non-alcoholic drinks just as we were finishing the current ones. Even the people drinking beer never went dry until they had decided that they were done for the night. The food was brought quickly too and everything was done with a smile 😃. The men's washroom 🚻 was a bit rough. Tge toilet paper dispenser was beaten up and looked empty as well as the paper towel box on the sink was completely empty and the washroom was pretty dirty in general at about 9pm. The Nachos were pretty good. They gave plenty of sourcream and salsa which was appreciated and the pickled onions were a neat addition to the Nachos. All in all a good experience with the service being the best part.

Where do I start… today has to have been the worst service experience that I have had at the point. It starts with us walking in to find a table that’s not even properly set or cleaned. Our server was dismissive to say the least , walking by us 4 times before finally answering in a manner that felt like she didn’t even want to be there. I watched her continually check up and clean up the table across the stretch treating my guest and I like we were invincible… the straw that broke the camels back had to be me using dry paper towels to clean the sticky mess left behind those inconsistently saucy wings. If you have the option to stay home and make those wings in the air fryer do it. Save yourself the emotional manipulation that coerces you into feeling they couldn’t deliver a similar experience you watched other guests enjoy because God knows they can they just choose not to. Also wing night with no wet wipes?? What’s going on ? *Disclaimer* the majority of this review was written between the time we finished our first order and the time she came to grab our second order visiting every country around the world before touching down for the mandatory quality check.

Pub food is fairly reliable wherever you go, meaning 'okay'. However, I've found The Point's food to be above average. They also have large beer selection, a great 'classic bar' atmosphere but the occupancy can vary widely from dead to bustling. This definitely puts a strain on the wait staff but they adjust quite well, providing efficient service even when it's busy. As you'd notice in my other reviews, I seldom criticize wait staff as I know it can be difficult job. However, while efficient, the staff at The Point aren't a very cheerful crew. In fact, they're quite curt, with zero friendly banter as they interact with customers and rarely offering a smile. They're all-business, indifferent but not quite to the point of if rudeness. Reminds me of waiters in Europe. Oh well, I don't go there to make friends. As long as they keep bringing me my favourite beer. Just don't expect me to hit their minimum 18% tip button.

This is a great establishment. Have come here so many times over the years and we make almost every Monday and Wednesday for wings. However the last few times we’ve come in we’ve had Cambridge as our server. She’s seemed to have a very gross attitude towards us and other customers. We’ve ignored it but finally today we came in on a Monday afternoon and it was dead with Cambridge as the only server on the floor. First off it took her ten minutes to even come and greet us (she so clearly seen us and looked our direction many times) and when she came up to us finally she didn’t even greet us. Said ā€œwhat are we drinkingā€ after slamming the menus down on the table. And then walked away. Gave me dirty looks from the bar. and then when she came back with our drinks, she walked away without saying a word even though we had been ready to order before she even came to us the first time. We ended up by leaving to go somewhere else because the service was brutally rude and super awkward. When I asked for her name to maybe try and discuss this with a manager she scoffed at me. She used to be friendly with a positive attitude who would wave and say hello when we came in but she clearly cannot keep her life separate from work. If we walk in again and she’s the only server there we will not be staying. Crazy to be treated that way when the servers all know us, and the amount of money we have tipped them over the years. Super disappointed. Hopefully someone discusses this with Cambridge as I’m sure we are not the only ones who have noticed her...

The food that offered here is not impressive, especially for the hefty price tag! And the server did not seem knowledgeable about their drinks!!! I asked about available non-alcohol drinks, and she referred me to their menu. When I couldn’t find the list, she showed me where it might be and did not know about what they are like.

1- Rib Dip ($23): Alberta rib eye sounds great, right? I had more fried onions in there than meat. And I am not sure if it was ground beef or whatever it was. Very excited about baguette, but instead I got sub sandwich bun!!! And Daisy Chain drink came in a tiny tall glass, filled up with a LOT of ice. Not much liquid in there either $9!! The part I enjoyed the most was their yam fries, which I believe it was right out of the frozen bag, but decent

2- Chicken Shawarma ($22): we asked if the salad with onions would be on the side, and not in the wrap, and were told that it would come on the side. However, we got onions in the wrap!! The hummus came in a shot size plastic container and was runny like salad dressing. Drink was blood orange margarita, in a short glass with lots of ice again $16 and again the best part of this meal was yam fries

3- Point Burger ($21): we did not find this meal special at all, very tasteless burger!!! Beer was good...

Went on a Saturday afternoon (around 5 pm). Even with the weather being very Calgary-like, the pub was very busy when we arrived and busier as we left.

We decided that it was a pick and mix day. We ordered 2 (large) orders of wings (one wet, one dry) that came with the usual veggie-support. The wings were well cooked, with the dry having a satisfying crust and both pleasing to the eye. They tasted great and had a nice meat to bone ratio. We also ordered the ribs, which were very tasty and a bucket of lager chips that were both crisp and had a nice chew.

My wife decided to order the French onion soup. It came piping hot, in a large bowl, and capped with a puff pastry roof made for tearing and dipping. This looked nice and was certified high on the yummy scale.

There is a nice selection of on-tap and bottled beers that should suit every taste. I found the Zero Issues Nemesis most agreeable.

The service was attentive, friendly, and efficient and definitely added to the overall experience. The prices are reasonable.

All in all, it is a great place for a meal and to enjoy a couple of hours away from the normal routine. We've been quite a few times (fairly regularly since it was still the Point and Feather) and will definitely visit again. You...
