This morning I had the wonderful pleasure of sitting down at Nellie's.
The atmosphere of the restaurant is good, very old fashioned diner-y. Solid.
Service was good, too. A server once asked me without prompt to refill my coffee. Solid.
The breakfast was nice, this is the Nellie's Hash. A healthy amount of veggies, hashbrowns, two eggs (soft), some slices of fruit, and some sourdough toast. Solid.
Value? $22.52. Keep in mind, I ordered coffee with mine. Pretty solid.
Feedback: This did not feel very 'mountainy' like your menu described. More like a hill. But a pleasant hill, perhaps with a nice tree you might lean up against and admire the sunrise to.
Tldr, good food, atmosphere, and service. Maybe adjust the menu description of the item I highlighted, but altogether a...
Read moreWe had lunch at Nellie’s on 90th today and were not impressed. The service was slow. We considered leaving as no one showed any effort in attending to us. The food was okay but nothing great. My husband ordered the waffle sandwich and said it was “not bad”. I ordered the grilled tomato, bacon and cheese sandwich on sourdough, along with a salad. The sandwich was extremely greasy and lacked flavour. Portions were fairly large but I’d rather have great tasting smaller meal, than a large “not bad” meal. The place seemed relatively clean except for the floor. It was covered in dust and looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in months. Will...
Read moreWe love trying breakfast places regularly, so we went in ready to try something new but we were really disappointed. The food had no good points. The temperature was off (it was cold on one half and hot on the other). The hashbrowns had an odd aftertaste but no real flavour of their own--they were quite soft/soggy. The eggs were equally unflavoured and scrambled to of 1/4 chunks 3/4 crumbs. The toast was thin and very tough like it had been toasted ages ago. In terms of positives, the place is quaint, has a pretty charming aesthetic, and the servers are pretty friendly, but the food was unenjoyable to the point that we won't...
