Confederation Park — Attraction in Clarence-Rockland

This park is on the Ontario side of the Ottawa river, across from Grenville, Quebec where I used to live. Since April until last week; I was crossing 1 or 2 times a week to move stuff from my apartment in Grenville to a house in l'Orignal, ON. And since this is one of the border crossings that the OPP has had blocked since April; everyone from Quebec driving over the Long Sault Bridge has been pulled over at the roadblock - right on the island where the park is located. However; I HAVE visited this park in the past - a lovely place to go - once Covid restrictions are lifted. One side has a boat launch, some really interesting outdoor art exhibits; picnic tables; a building that houses a Cultural Arts Centre, Tourist Info centre (with washrooms); and if you drive UNDER the bridge to the south side; there is a very large park with way more green space and picnic tables and a gazebo. In the summer, someone sets up a small trailer on that side by the water to rent out water craft (I think kayaks, pedal boats, etc.). The only thing missing here is a swimming area. Before Covid, this entire park was constantly busy on both weekends and weekdays. Definitely worth a visit - if you don't...

If you have a dog your not invited to this park. Hawkesbury needs work, the park could be nice but I don't think Hawkesbury cares. So much potential here, a simple dock would go along way. REMEMBER! You can't bring your dog even if you have a leash! Why? Good fishing in the area.

I see city workers in the morning but I always see empty cans and trash in the park. It really just seems like nobody cares around here. Pretty sure I found a homeless person camp so maybe watch your kids in case of needles or broken glass. Good...

Scenic location, but not much to do here. Could be so much better if the municipality took an interest in showcasing this park. So much unrealized potential. The park would be greatly improved with the addition of a marina, boardwalk along the river, and some play structures for the kids. Unfortunately these things are currently lacking. That being said, it's a decent spot if you are looking for a quiet place to take...
