Went in, one person was on the phone at register, would not make eye contact. Another work said " she will be right with you..." Then provided assistance to another customer.... After several minutes of no one paying any attention to me, I looked online and the products in my hands were available on amazon and were cheaper and could be shipped to my house so, there was no reason to put up with the poor customer service. Thanks, your poor service has helped me a lot because I no longer have to drive to Burnside or put up with this.
Update: I spent a large part of my early work career in customer service. What I experiences was not a "busy" environment, or an impatience customer. It was simply terrible customer service.
To provide some advice instead of simply complaining I will give these simple tips.
always acknowledge the customer. The person on the phone could have looked at me and smiled and held up 1 finger....the universal sign of a will be right with you... Since I only needwd to pay, the best thing would be to tell the person on the phone, "could you hold for a second..." And ring me through...or as I have done countless times in the past she could have waived me over and rang me through while talking.
for the other staff member. Since I was there first, when it was clear the person was not going to get off the phone or acknowledge me, you could have said, can I just ring this gentlemen through as he was her first and she needed parts out of the back room.
There are countless other ways it could have been handled and this is not the first time I have encountered poor customer service here. As I mentioned, now that I.know I can have the products shipped to my house for less, I won't be going to Burnside at all. Read moreI want to thank Holly and Jessica for the incredible customer service they provide me , my hot tub pump stopped working and was giving me a bunch of error codes on the display , I decided to send a email to the service department asking for a service call , efficiently Holly responded to my request at 3:45 pm unfortunately I was unable to answer until 8:35pm that night Friday June 14 / 2024 , 1 minute later to my surprise Holly responded and asked me for more details and the codes , I gave her the information and she said she would talk to a technician and have someone contact me , I wanted to have this repaired before the 24th of June for my daughter’s birthday party , the next morning I received a call from Jessica who walked me through the diagnostics and determined it was the temperature and flow sensors that needed to be replaced and they had the parts in stock if I wanted to attempt the installation myself as they could not get someone to come to my home before the 24th , being handy I drove down to their showroom was greeting promptly and with a smile, parts were ready for me and then proceeded home to install them , Jessica was email me asking if I needed anything to let her know , I installed the sensors and the hot tub is back up and running !! Never in my life have I ever received this outstanding customer service !! I also received a follow up email from Holly Saturday night making sure everything was ok !! WOW !! If anyone is thinking of purchasing or repairing a hot tub or pool and need any parts or supplies McBurney’s is the only place to come !! This was my first time dealing with them and let me tell you they have a customer for life!! Thank you for everything!!

My husband and I were very new to owning a pool when we bought our home, so we went to a local competitor of McBurney's, not knowing any better which resulted in very poor service (which I won't mention their name). I explained our situation to McBurney's and they geared us up with some knowledge, solutions and great products. The clearing and cleaning of the pool went seamless after that. But the "TRUE" customer service is that a week later, Bill McBurney, the owner pulled in our driveway unexpectedly to see how everything was going and asked us if we needed any help. Keep in mind, we are 30 km away from his store to our home, so an hour + there and back in travel time for him to stop by. Who truly does that for strangers at NO COST??? I will never forget this....and even since then, I call up and ask so many questions, the staff are always so supportive.
McBurney's focus on setting customer service standards, they are extremely attentive when I need help, very assertive and positive demeanor is always felt when dealing with them directly..I could go on and on.
I am a huge fan and will always continue to do my business at McBurney's with no exceptions!
Keep up the good work Bill, Tara, Holly and Team...a truly run family business, so good to have...
