We went to Russell lake for the sole purpose of viewing an Osprey nest. The nest is located near the mouth of the trail and the trail is a beautiful - paved and runs through forested areas too. I’m not sure there are beaches for swimming but it is a lovely area for a walking and birdwatching. As of this writing (Aug 8/25) all trails in the area are closed to due drought and concerns about wildfires, so check status before...

I’m not sure there are beaches for swimming but it is a lovely area for a walking and birdwatching.
