I had rated this 4 stars after my first few times there, but I'm down to 2 now. I've had a few less than great experiences, and this evening I had possibly the worst meal and experience of my life.
Went there with my wife, mom, mother in law and daughters for a mothers day dinner. My mothers appetizer got skipped, my mother-in-laws fish and chips had poorly cooked batter, my wife didn't get fries with her meal because of an upsell she purchased, and she wasn't told that would happen.
The waitress took a plate of food from in front of my daughter while she was still eating and it made my daughter cry. She was eating at the arrugula garnish on the plate. I get most people don't eat that regularly, but she was enjoying it and the waitress never asked. From my daughters perspective someone just came and took a plate of food she was eating.
We never got water and half the table didn't have anything to drink for half the meal. Finally, my wifes desert was brought out ahead of my daughters deserts, and like, that's not a nice thing to do to my kids. My wife shared, obviously, but my kids were like "Where's ours?"
I took all the most important women in my life to a place and they all got annoyed or disappointed. Happy mothers day from the Millstone?
I've worked the line in a kitchen. I've served food. I've worked in some damn nice hotels. I understand that things can go wrong sometimes. It seemed like a lot of things were going wrong at the millstone tonight. At this point I worry it's systemic. I enjoy the food there but I'll never go back if there's a chance of another...
Read moreOur work section ate at The Millstone Public House in Dartmouth for lunch today. Something we were looking forward to as it was a planned outing for about two weeks. I wanted to try something different that was on the menu. The description sounded great. I like curry and I like seafood.
Curried Seafood Crêpes Warm crêpes filled with salmon, shrimp and scallops simmered in a curry cream sauce.
We had a couple of appetizers while waiting. Which was great, along with the service. We waited for about 50 mins for our meals. Now I am only speaking for my meal here. What a disappointment. I could not find any of the listed items in my crepe, which looked like a soggy ball on my plate, wIth bits of dried up fish on top, the amount of, maybe a couple fork full. It came with mixed veggie (broccoli) which was over cooked and garlic mashed potatoes which were a little on the wet side. The curry sauce was questionable. Now I did eat about a third of the meal, as I did not want to send it back, after waiting 50 minutes already. When the server came and asked how the meal was I had told him that mine did not fit the description on the menu and I would not recommend it to anyone. He said he would mention it to the cooks and talk to the manager. The server informed us that the meal would be discounted. Discounted? Well, I did eat some of it after waiting 50 minutes for it to arrive at our table. The bill came and it was discounted $2.55. Seriously?...
Read moreOn Saturday night approx 9:00 pm, on our way home from the airport we decided to get some supper and the Millstone Public House immediately came to mind. Close to home. We waited to be greeted, and then were seated in the bar area. We usually sit in the dining area. There were a number of loud patrons at the bar and the the waitresses were being very attentive to that crowd. We waited for drinks and we waited for a menu. My wife ordered the pasta special and specifically ordered it with no Parm cheese...which she hates. Our meals took forever and when another waitress brought them out, my wifes was covered with Parm. which the girl took back. Now I am eating by myself while hers is remade and then she eats by herself because I was finished early. We came there to eat together. I told the waitress,Kristy (who duely noted...My bad!with a grin, that I did not find it funny but she continued to focus on the crowd at the bar and laughed. The way too loud guys at the bar, and one in particular was asked by someone to turn it down a notch. The one guy was Fbombing the place and the whole group could care less. I was upset and had to actually take my bill to the bar to pay and interrupt to get that done. It was a totally unpleasant experience. I chose MS over Jamisons, in hind sight, a mistake I...
