You MUST visit this beach. Primarily because it's NOT Muskoka Bay Park. Muskoka Bay Park is about 6 minutes away from Gull Lake Rotary Park and it sucks. Just awful. If you aren't contending with 40 Canadian Geese trying to fight for you for space on the beach you're trying to avoid their 1000's of stinky landminds all over the place. Also the beach spot is very small. Avoid that Park like you would avoid a nesting goose on her eggs.
Back to Gull Lake Rotary Park. Big bonus is that it has lifeguards till 5pm or so when we went and is one of the few guarded beaches I've been told for a good long distancs. That and they have nice little docks. The sand is clean and the water is clear. Fantastic place to visit with friends and family!
Little tidbit. If you drive just up the street there's the only beer store around which is key to helping you with putting up with some particular friends or family members. You know the type I'm talking about. Go there first and then Gull Lake....
Read moreLovely park near Gravenhurst. We by chance found this place when we were looking for a place to have our packed lunch while on the way to Algonquin. A quick search gave a lot of options but this place had good reviews and was also near the highway. A quick detour and we reached the park easily.
Just as we parked, the park view gave us a good feeling about the place. It was clean, well maintained and right at the lake. Ample picnic tables scattered around the park which can be used for family picnics. There were few families who were enjoying the park already.
A very small beach is also there in case you want to enjoy the waters.
There are lots of trees and you get a good feeling. Lots of benches overlooking the lake to enjoy the view. There is also a performance area on the lake and I think the benches are specifically meant for that. Probably some seasonal performances happen here.
Lastly the washrooms were clean. Overall a lovely park for a family...
Read moreThis park will always hold fond memories for me as we used to occasionally go there in many years past to watch concerts that were held on the lake. They also sometimes had water ski shows there as well. I can't say if either of these activities are done anymore. These days we frequent the park for it's tennis courts. There are two hardcourts there, which are not in the best of shape but there aren't a lot of options in Gravenhurst so we are happy to have a place to hit. It can get busy in the summer so go early or later in the day. There is also a baseball diamond, a playground, and as I mentioned,...
