An experience worth the price.
I just went with a group of friends to my second puzzle room at Escaparium. We had so much fun as a group. The atmosphere of the place is very welcoming as soon as we got there. Did not differ from the first time which shows consistency.
There are some important points I want to share with anyone who is curious about trying this place out:
1)The rooms are very immersive. It's not just a decorated room with generic puzzles. You are in a story and you need to get into the story to really succeed in spotting and solving the puzzles.
Cost. It's not a cheap adventure, but that does not mean it is not worth it. You pay for the full time slot, and you get the full time slot. Clues or mistakes do not cost you time. You paid for the time, you get the time. You also get a dedicated staff member to watch you in case of problems, and for help. I've been to A/Maze and I have been neglected for easily 3-4 whole minutes during a technical problem more than once. Which is why when I came to Escaparium I was blown away. So... price you get: great puzzles, great design, great experience and great customer service. Plus a full hour is perfect. Oh yeah, and infinite clues which I am learning are so useful in order to get the most of the puzzle room.
Puzzle room? More like rooms. The multi-room layout and how they designed them are amazing. Like going down the rabbit hole in Alice is genius.
I have to say, there is a lot of work that goes into these rooms. The detail of a lot of it is impressive. Yes, when I did the Alice puzzle there was one technical issue, but we were helped immediately. The time and effort into making these rooms, managing them and caring for the customer, they deserve some credit and exactly what they are charging.
The dinosaur room was the first (1 out of 2) rooms we succeeded in escaping and it was so fun. We also made it a themed day, so we did the puzzle and then enjoyed the latest Jurassic World movie. Make a day out of it. I know next time we will do a themed day again. Creates a whole day of fun and makes the one "costly" event worth it.
I apologize for the long post but I think creatives deserve the credit they have...
Read moreYearly tradition to do an escape room on my birthday and this year, I needed a room that was offered in english, challenging, and able to fit 9 people. Escaparium had all of that! We picked the game The wizard four and the book of black arts which is for 4-10 players and they recommend at least 8 people to do this room. Everyone gets a wand to start that is used to activate various different parts and items in the room. The game master is also part of the story and if you need any help or guidance you can do so by calling out the name of the character. I love that they integrate it into the game, all other escape rooms I've done you just get a walkie talkie.
It was a great experience and moderately challenging. I recommend!
Slight spoilers ahead I also loved that they had an actor be a part of the experience, it added a layer of theatricality that I haven't seen in other escape rooms. Usually the person who lets you in the room is dressed up or is part of the explanation of the room but rarely have I seen them be in the room later on as part of the story. The only criticisms I have about the rooms is that when we solved a puzzle or unlocked an area, it wasn't obvious where the change happened so we needed to be reminded to look around because we had accomplished something and there was a clue to pick up but there was no announcement so we never knew if it had worked or not. There was also a puzzle that was completely in the dark so it was necessary for me to use my phone which usually is a big no for escape rooms but it was truly too dark to see. We wasted maybe 10 minutes trying to find this last clue so I believe we could've solved the room a lot faster had we known. There is no timer in the room but you can always ask the game master to let you know how much time is left. We solved it with 8...
Read moreRoom was very enjoyable, the staff horrible. We did the Prison Break room and really enjoyed the puzzles and decorations. Some type of sound/music would have been appreciated to drown out the hallway sounds. Our game master Ben was great. He was very animated and bilingual. The other staff were awful. Was impossible to make a reservation and they told us to show up and see if there was room, they wouldn’t reserve for us. Person on the phone was extremely rude about it. Once we got there no one was there to great us. Once the girl finally showed up she hardly spoke English and kept telling me my personal information was incorrect. Very limited communication. Ben did a good job of answering our questions at the end of the game, but would have been nice if there was some type of explanation or ending provided without us having to ask. Additionally once Ben finished us in the room and led us back to the lobby we were just left alone. No one else was there; no pictures, no communication. They don’t give you a timer in the room, you have to keep asking for the time and they give you approximate times rather than precise. Also as we were getting into the the third room you clearly heard a staff member come into the first room and start moving things around as we were playing and we were told on the walkie talkie it was pointless to return back to the previous room. They should at least let us finish before resetting their room...
Although the room was nice, the horrible customer service and disregard to clients will keep me...
