Elixor, a fine dining restaurant, where many memories can be made. A dinery, for family and friends to enjoy a special night, filled with delicious meals and desserts. As much as I would like to talk about the delicious food, I must first talk about the service. As my friends and I, walked into the establishment, we were immediately questioned based on how we looked, whether we had any money on us or if we could even pay for the meal. These questions made my friends and I feel like we were being discriminated against because of the way we looked. You would think in the middle of a pandemic, restaurants struggling to earn profit, would treat their customers with respect, not by putting their customers into that position of distress. After that inconvenience was resolved, we were seated at our table. Once, ordering the Rio Grande Mexican Burrito, a fresh tortilla straight off the grill, combined with rich cheddar cheese, fried rice, roasted chicken strips, delicious bell peppers topped with caramelized onions, guacamole, sour cream and salsa, I knew it was going to be special. As soon as our food arrived, I could smell the aromas of all elegant dishes. I have to admit, I was impressed by the presentation, it looked spectacular, I couldn't wait to stick my fork inside that fresh burrito, take a savory bite and taste all those juicy, flavourful ingredients on my taste buds. I cut a piece of the burrito, put it into my mouth and the burrito was bursting with flavour. With every bite I took, I could taste more and more of the delicious, well seasoned ingredients. I find that the toppings of sour cream, guacamole and salsa, provides an amazing touch to the dish. Following the meals, be of the opinion that, although the service was questionable to start off, it was resolved and the dishes were great. I can't wait to see what else this elegant restaurant has to offer, until...
Read moreStaff was good waiter was attentive and food was good and nice portions. Price was a bit high but ok. My only beef was with management. We had a party of 20+ people for a Birthday celebration and I was most embarrassed for are host. A member of are party brought a cake which is customary in most restaurant. Seems management would not let them serve cake to there guests. I work in the restaurant industry and are staff always not only allow a cake but provide the service of cutting it and serving the clients guest. Very pour conduct Elixor all you needed to do was provide small bread plates to have 20+ happy customers and they would of been repeat customers. Note to others if planning a party and you want to bring a cake save your self the aggravation and book else where. Management replied below that this is normal . I have to comment on that as this is not standard in the industry as I have worked for a high end Italian restaurant in the west island for 13yrs and we do provide cakes if needed ,but if a customer wants to bring a cake for an occasion we not only allow it but are staff presents the cake with candles or sparklers and several members sing to the client. Then we return the cake to the kitchen cut the cake and serve it to the group of guests. That Elixor is how it's done happy customers are return customers and you lost 20 of them. I might also add the gentleman was not informed of your policy until they went to serve the cake which was provided by another guest. Thus embarrassing that guest trying to do a good deed. Not impressed Elixor...
Read moreThis is from my own experience at the restaurant. I have been to hole in the wall restaurants to up to 1 Michelin star. 6$ meals to 150$ tasting menus.
I have been a fan of Elixor’s food from the beginning. It is one of the few places that I will go to for that specific ‘dish’.
As far as service goes, this place has a lot of staff and unfortunately I just don’t know what the heck some of these people are doing. For starters the staff should inform you of any specials of the day (which the table next to us was informed, but not us).
2nd it took an extremely long time to get our meals (table of 5) and we showed up at first service at about 60-70 capacity before the large reserved parties came in.
3rd it took forever to get the bill/take out containers that we had to chase down the manager. We wanted to give our money and leave so you can sit the next service but no one wanted our money!!?
To top it off, since we got our meals we have not had the server come to check up on us, or refill our water. He didn’t even show up for us to pay him. Even the manager couldn’t find him!!!
Value: I noticed an increase in price (economic change) however a standard acceptable service should come with it. Higher prices, and lower quality service doesn’t cut it. Take off 20% and I would expect ‘what I pay for’.
Notice to manager(s). Try to resolve issues with your staff and increase training. Your good staff is mixed in with bad staff and that’s what will bring you down.
