It doesn't seem like much from the outside, but there's plenty to view within. Of course, there are 4 airplanes with descriptions on the outside. One of the impressive displays of dozens of miniature models of the airplanes, carved and painted. You have to get very close to see that they are hand crafted. Within, there's the full history of the airport, military and civilian use, how the economics boomed and busted, and finally, there the coverage of 9/11 with the role of the air traffic controllers and the response from the citizens. There is also an area dedicated to the impact of the airport on pioneer transatlantic crossings and later during early commercial flights. Lastly, the area dedicated to the outstanding generosity of Newfoundlanders on 911 is great. Four outdoor exhibits are quite attractive and features a PBY Catalina, a CF 101 Vodoo and two other airplanes. A must for all visitors...
