It doesn't seem like much from the outside, but there's plenty to view within. Of course, there are 4 airplanes with descriptions on the outside. One of the impressive displays of dozens of miniature models of the airplanes, carved and painted. You have to get very close to see that they are hand crafted. Within, there's the full history of the airport, military and civilian use, how the economics boomed and busted, and finally, there the coverage of 9/11 with the role of the air traffic controllers and the response from the citizens. There's a while notebook full of letters of appreciation from people who weren't CFAs, but just appreciated the outpouring of generosity.

Awesome museum. Inside the exhibits show historical aspects of the maritime aeronautical heritage of Gander airport. There is also an area dedicated to the impact of the airport on pioneer transatlantic crossings and later during early commercial flights. Lastly, the area dedicated to the outstanding generosity of Newfoundlanders on 911 is great. Four outdoor exhibits are quite attractive and features a PBY Catalina, a CF 101 Vodoo and two other airplanes. A must for all visitors of The Rock.

An awesome museum that showcases Gander's rich aviation history, from Gander's importance during wartimes, to it being a major aviation refuelling hub for trans-Atlantic flights, to the role that Gander played during 9/11. There were many exhibits on different aspects of Gander's aviation history, such as Gander being the hub for Eastern Pacific Airlines. There were some cool interactive exhibits such as a flight sim. A must visit for aviation geeks and history buffs.

I never thought about flight sims in a museum, but it really works here. They have a lot of local aviation history, some from the world wars, early trans-Atlantic flight history, and even as recent as the aviation affects of 9/11. They have a piece of girder from the towers as well. They have several different flight sims, some of which you can use. There is an old bi-plane inside, and several other planes outside. Fantastic place for anyone with an...
