McDonald Park — Attraction in Kamloops

While this park has been improved over the years, it is located in an area where you're likely to run into some of the less fortunate side of Kamloops residents. This wouldn't necessarily be an issue for me, it's the careless drug use around children and the disregard for other's safety when you see some of the garbage left behind. I'm certainly not saying it's illegal to have a major health issue but a community park is hardly the venue. On the positive side, however, they have upgraded many different aspects of the park such as a community garden, and a redone basketball court. If pickleball's your thing, I believe they have converted the Tennis courts into multi-purpose units capable of either game. I should also mention an additional new dog park and upgraded children's play area. Finally, they have a gazebo which they use for different events including live music most Summer evenings. So while it has its rough patches, it more than makes up for it. Just use common sense, and probably call it a day around dusk just to be on...

It's a nice park but please beware. Homeless people sleep in the park at night and hide their needles in the playground equipment. I wish I were making this up. I don't let my kid touch the gravel or sand because they hide needles in it and I have to give the tubes and slides a run through because I've found needles in there.

2 Weeks later and I'm adding on to this review. There are two sets of bathrooms, one by the water park and one in front of the play ground that most people use. We found the bathrooms by the water park were the safest. Yesterday I was there and there was literally 15 homeless people camping inside and in front of the bathrooms and not letting anyone go in. I went in when I first came to the park and immediately backed out as there was full out pillows and bags of their belongings in the stalls.

I love McDonald Park. It has tennis courts and you can play pickle ball in there too! There is a water park there no pool anymore But there is a big round like ball on a large platform in water park and it fills with water and if you count it down and start under it you get s splash of water , but close your eyes you'll thank me later. There is also music in the park and picnic tables for an afternoon lunch, great place to spend on a hot day also a lot of trees to share you from the sun . Oh! And I almost forgot there is a public garden there too! I love...
