There's no art at this Art Gallery. Da Vinci created Art. Bob Ross created Art. Michelangelo created Art. What's at this Gallery is just woke individuals trying to bring awareness to homelessness (not art), Native Americans (not art), the Food Bank (not art), then a bunch of artifacts that belong in a 1980's museum. Don't forget the heated rocks that aren't comfortable to sit on and a movie that will put you to sleep on those rocks. Playing "Life on our Planet" from Netflix would have actually been educational for children and adults alike. The homeless don't have an identity crisis, they don't need to be brought to the public's attention. To suggest that the public is not aware of homelessness is a pretty big insult to the public. If anyone in Canada cared about Native Americans including the moron who built the exhibit, you would have packed up your belongings and left Canada for your heritage homeland be it Europe, Asia or Africa. But since you're all still living on Native Land I'll just go ahead and assume you could care less also. But feel free to create an exhibit about it and try to guilt everyone else about your condescending hypocritical message. Art is not your personal protest center. Art is a creative imaginative process that brings an emotional response to those that witness it. It's not your political platform to ram down the publics throats about topics that everyone already knows about no less but simply don't care! Even Banksy paints his political messages! It's disgusting that this place is called an Art Gallery. There's no Art. Oh wait, a couple of finger paintings in the hallway. Slap a paintbrush on your turtle and let him go. Any questions about the K/W Hippie...
Read moreWill definitely be visiting again soon! Can’t believe I took this long to check out my local art gallery but wow was it lovely!
Spent about an hour by myself exploring the art. It was fairly quiet on a weekday. It is free admission but you can donate to the gallery with cash or tap if you’d like. The staff was helpful when I told her it was my first time and told me about the exhibits.I loved the variety of art and the artists showcased. The experiences were immersive (sound, smell, visuals, and interaction). There were free art books and poetry to take home related to the exhibits. I will be back!
Update: Came back to see their new exhibits. Again, really thoughtfully curated, inspiring work being exhibited here. There is plenty of seating to come and enjoy the art and I always find it is quite empty. Friendly staff as usual....
Read moreThis local art gallery was so lovely to visit. Admission is free. With large scale exhibitions spanning a range of topics, excellent curation, and a variety of mediums - including aural and interactive art. Our favourite exhibition was about "The Hag" and was so stunningly beautiful my partner and I stayed in the exhibition room in awe for longer than we thought possible. They also have a small collection of art books for sale outside the exhibition hall.
There is a paid parking lot and some free street parking up the road if you are willing to walk a bit longer.
Currently undergoing renovations, the building is unable to offer washroom access...
