Came in with a group of 6 for dinner the yesterday (August 17). With groups of 6 or more, an automatic 18% gratuity is added. Unfortunately, it seemed like the server determined that since they were already getting a great tip they did not need to provide good (any?) service.
To start, one member ordering wanted to know what the "seasonal vegetables" were tonight. Any reasonable server would either know, or offer to check with the kitchen. Our server? "They are seasonal, they change." Thanks for your help!
We ordered drinks and one appetizer (3 dips with pita), and meals. The server did not check in once between delivering the appetizer and the entrees (20+ minutes). That meant we ran out of pita (would have loved more, sooner!) and also had empty drinks. When entrees came, we were able to order more pita for it... but got charged. At a previous visit, we were not charged for extra pita for the appetizer.
Meals for the 6 of us were brought out over the course of 10 minutes.
Even though it was clearly dinner time, it seemed like we got the lunch portions? One attendee order a single skewer which was very clearly bigger (had a longer skewer & more meat on it) than everyone who ordered a dinner.
Never checked in to see how the entrees were or if we needed more drinks.
Oh and the best part is there were all of 5 tables in the restaurant, split between 2 servers. Obviously they were too busy to do the bare minimum. But not to worry, they made something like $60 in tips the second we decided to walk in - clearly very well earned.
As someone who comes here somewhat regularly (closest restaurant to us!), and this time brought guests in from out of town, this was an incredibly disappointing experience and left a bad taste... won't be back for...
Read moreThree Kretans! What can I say? It’s the bee’s knees, the absolute best spot on the planet. My husband, the Dora of the culinary world ( as I like to call him) discovered this spot for our anniversary, and boy, was I floored! Let’s talk about the ambience first. It’s the ultimate spot for a romantic date night or a cozy valentine evening. The music sets the mood just right, and the decor? Simple yet classy. Now, onto the food scene. We ordered dolmadakia, gyro on a pita, lamb souvlaki, and Baklava for a sweet ending. Each dish was like unlocking a flavour treasure chest!! And the wine, Apelia, it was like silk. Wait, there’s more. The customer service? Exceptional. Our server, Ljiljana, was like the Greek goddess Hestia incarnate. She not only ensured we savoured every bite but also dropped some knowledge bombs on how to pair the wine and the food. Now here’s where it gets really sweet - we decided to split a baklava, thinking we couldn’t handle more. Without a word, Ljiljana divvied it up for us, sparing us the work. Talk about anticipating our needs! After settling the bill, I couldn’t shake the feeling of not knowing our server’s name. So, I hurried back to ask for it, eager to mention her in my review. But she kept proving how sweet she was by insisting that I leave a general review! But the other staff, a gentleman, wrote her name on a piece of paper and handed it to me. And I also got to meet the chef. God bless his hands! We thanked them for making our anniversary extra special, and you won’t believe - they gave us an anniversary gift, a tiramisu!
Long story short, Three Kretans made our day, and then some. If you find yourself in the area, do yourself a favour and pay them a visit. You...
Read moreAnother favorite to add to my list. KW is definitely not disappointing. We have some great hidden GEMS here and NY taste buds are happy to find them. My experience at Three Kretans was great. The staff was friendly. I was greeted upon arrival with a warm welcome as she pointed out the lunch menu and recommended their top meals. The atmosphere itself was a whole vibe. Nicely decorated with great music made me feel like I was in Greece. Even though I've never been to Greece lol. The only negative was the washroom was out of service and parking sucks. However, no points lost because they did have someone in servicing the washroom and apologized for the inconvenience. And parking I got a ticket that allowed me to not get a real ticket for parking in a reserved lot. The waitress explained if you come over lunch parking lots 7-14 is theirs to use for free with no concerns for getting a ticket and if the lot is full, she'll give a little ticket to put in your dashboard to avoid getting a ticket. I got one of those as I parked in #33.
The food. Let's get to the real reason why we are here. Honey! The food was banging!!! Soooo good. Fresh, authentic Greek food. Great portions and cooked to perfection. My chicken soulaki cost me a little under $20 which is almost the same price of my McChicken meal. But sooo much healthier and delicious, you can't even compare the two.
I highly recommend you trying this place. You and your taste buds will not be disappointed. 5...
