This place has been around for a very long time, 10 years ago when I lived in K-W it was my favorite Chinese food place, the food was of very good quality and quite authentic, I guess times change.
We were in town the other day and had a craving for Chinese so we thought we'd order from here, the food we received did not live up to what I remember in the slightest. It's like they threw out the old recipies and found some on the internet, nothing seemed the slightest bit authentic.
The vegetable fried rice was plain and uninteresting, it was inoffensive but had nothing in it apart from a healthy dose of soy sauce.
We got the sesame chicken which was probably the worst I've ever had. It was some sort of non-descript balls of presumably chicken in a watery sauce with a bit of sesame sprinkled over top. It's like what you'd expect to get if sesame chicken came in a can.
The Almond Soo Gai could have been good if the (hopefully) chicken was better, as it is the chicken was tough, stringly and possibly not chicken. The batter was good and crispy and the gravy wasn't bad at all.
The Moo GOo Gai Pan was just OK, not the best but not tthe worst, a bit more flavor and more vegetables then just onions and celery would have made it much better.
The spring rolls were nice, crispy and fairly flavorful.
Overall, not at all how I remember this place being, maybe it's nostalgia but I was pretty disappointed.
Please guys, bring the food back to where it was, Mei King used to be such good food, maybe we were just there on a off day but I know you...
Read moreThis is THE best restaurant to order Chinese food from. They even do delivery!! I live on the other side of town and they delivered to my front door. The lady who took my order tonight is super sweet and such a darling!! She made sure my order was correct and I had exactly everything I ordered perfected!! The driver was very friendly and super nice, he is a sweet man. Very kind and good natured, I tipped him for the delivery. Lastly the food is always tasty and filling, it hits the spot and it makes you feel happy! I tried the Shrimp Lo Mein tonight for the first time, and much to my surprise, it was amazingly delicious. It has a huge quanity of noodles and vegetables that fills the container to the top! It's perfect and so yummy!! I Love how hot the food was, and the cheese wontons dipped in the sweet and sour sauce was out of this world!! 😋 I literally had a flavor of explosion going on inside my mouth! Read moreI will start with a compliment about the authenticity and taste of their dishes. I have tried most of their beef and chicken and it is really good. All was well as we usually picked our food and got home to enjoy the Asian food I so love but on my recent visit to dine in we ordered two cans of beer while waiting for our food. The menu clearly states the price as - domestic beer - 5.99 and imported beer - 5.99. It was something we laughed about as we ordered and sipped while waiting for our food. At the end when the gentleman arrived with our cheque we asked him about the miscalculation as we were charged 8.99 per can which isn't what the menu conveyed. He said the prices had changed and this was what we were to pay. Now at this point I requested that he better update his menu if the was charging way more than what was mentioned, paid my dues and decided to never return as in my opinion this is absolutely unethical. I would not recommend this restaurant unless you are ready to pay way more than what's mentioned...
