Rockway Gardens — Attraction in Kitchener

Beautiful gardens! : they always have a variety of different flowers in a variety of colors, plants of different kinds, old and tall trees, 4 beautiful fountains not for swimming but beautiful for looking at and throwing in a wishing penny, Well taken care of! : the grass is always nicely green and mowed for having a picnic or walking your dog through, garbage bins are used by those traveling through but never over flowing also recycling bins are offered sometimes. Great and friendly staff! : I have had my own Rockway Gardens card since i was very young the staff are always kind and talkative. They have sales for seeds and plants in the spring and are very helpful with names and selections Great place for wedding photos, prom photos, or any kind of fancy or casual...

Took my 5.5 year old today for a little picnic and to get some cute pictures of her. We were going to look at the little waterfall they have there. Half way up the little walkway, I look up and see some junkie shooting up in the trees around the waterfall. I immediately distracted her and pulled her away from there. Then before we left, I was taking some pictures of her by one of the fountains, only to have some guy come up and start bathing himself in the fountain. Like, ewwww. We have gone there every year since she was a baby and never had any issues before. It used to be such a beautiful place to go with beautiful flowers and lots of places for photo ops, but it seems the junkies are taking over, like every other beautiful park/forest/garden...

Rockway Gardens is a pleasant and beautifully calming place to take a stroll through. It's marred only by graduation / prom photos and Pokemon Go lurkers. One of my personal pet peeves is during one of the above gathering events is that people park on both sides of the road and it's I possible to get through. I almost wish they'd remove the road and reconfigure the park to accommodate the new space. I think this park despite the complaining I have done here, will be one of the things I miss most about the K/W area. It has been a favourite spot of family to take walks. Be sure to watch out for their sales as they sell bulbs / flowers...
