Went in on June 8 8:06 Asked for a poutine bartender said that he only has chicken poutine. i said, "That's fine, Bartender said 15-minute wait time. I said that was fine I reserved my food at around 8:36 Around 30 minutes after I got my food then I asked for a drink. He showed me th menu non alcoholic secthen i asked for a drink Took 2 minutes to make. Poutine(large) cost 16.20, drink (mideuim) cost 7. the service: was great. Bartender was nice, and we had a nice conversation, wait time:is way too long for a poutine, price: a little over, but that's fine. You're paying for the ingredients, chiken etc.. Atmosphere: Place was cozy, nice, calm music in the back. Everything looked clean seats where comfy nice QR codes on the tables for the menu, I assume. The place looked nice. FOOD: i sat outside, and I unpacked my food The food was not as good as I expected, not enough fries it was covered by the ingredients, cheese was cold, and about 1 spoon full of cheese in. A large not enough, to many onions, The food was good it was flavorful. But just not enough to outlay the cons Drink: The drink cost me 7 dolers Non alcoholic he made it infront of me, my biggest concern is if he's using the same spoon for the alcoholic, and non alcoholic or are they cleaned?, the taste of the drink: it tasted just like sprite for 7 dollers! Would not recommend it it was blue. i forgot the name. Cunlucstion: PROS:place is clean, nice service CONS: The price was a little over the top Wait time took too long for a poutine Now I have only tried the poutine. I plan on going to try there byriani to see if that makes it up for the poutine mybe there specialty is byriani. Sorry for this huge writing My pictures were to blury to post...
Read moreI recently stopped by The Biryani Barrel in Kitchener and was blown away by the flavors and presentation. Here’s a closer look at what made my meal unforgettable:
Chicken Biryani From the first fragrant waft of saffron-infused basmati rice, I knew I was in for something special. Each grain was perfectly separate—light, fluffy, and lightly seasoned with just the right balance of warming spices. The chicken pieces were nothing short of extraordinary: tender, juicy, and falling off the bone, a refreshing change from the often rubbery chunks you find elsewhere. The marinade had penetrated deeply, leaving a subtle warmth of garam masala and a hint of tangy yogurt that lingered long after each bite.
Paneer Tandoori Biryani If you think biryani can’t get any more exciting, wait until you meet their paneer tandoori version. Chunks of paneer straight out of the tandoor arrive nestled in the rice, still sizzling atop a small charcoal bowl tucked into the container. As the embers released wisps of smoky aroma, every forkful took on that delicious “barbecue” note, cutting through the richness of the rice with a playful tang. The paneer itself had a slightly crisp, charred exterior and a soft, creamy center—texturally perfect and deeply flavorful.
Whether you’re craving classic chicken biryani or want to venture into the smoky delights of paneer tandoori, The Biryani Barrel delivers on authenticity, quality, and flavor. Generous portions mean you get great value, and the excitement of that little charcoal bowl elevates the whole experience. Highly recommended for anyone seeking the real deal in Kitchener’s biryani scene—this place has firmly earned a spot on my regular...
Read moreMy wife and I recently had the pleasure of having an amazing dinner at The Biryani Barrel.
We saw a post online about the restaurant and decided we'd like to give it a try and we're both glad wet did. To start we had some samosas that were fantastic. Perfect flavor, and stuffed with filing. The best part was it was not greasy at all! We enjoyed those while I had a four fathers IPA and my wife had a mango lassi that she said was the best she had.
For our main course we had a chicken and a mutton biryani and they were both absolutely delicious! Once we both had our fill we still left with what would be considered huge portions.
We wanted to try the cheesecake for dessert but ultimately our eyes were bigger than our stomachs so that will have to be tried next time.
We can't say enough good things about this restaurant, from the lovely decor and atmosphere, to the friendly owner that made us feel welcome, and of course the amazing food. We are already looking forward to returning to try a few other dishes as well as some of the amazing cocktails. We are very happy to have food this local gem.
If you're looking for some delicious food at a great restaurant this is the place. Come out and support this local husband and wife team, you won't be...
