Hockey Arena - Concession Stand
Updated Review: Feb 2023
My primary issue right now is that the concession stand is unlike any other hockey rink, and not for the better. Paramount has without a doubt done no research into these operations. The history of the concession was to generate revenues (fund raising) for the hockey organization not a for profit enterprise such as paramount. Hence food options and pricing directly reflected this. Paramount doesn’t get this. Example: last night they finally had popcorn 🍿 available, it is typically turned off. Great, but then they charge $6.50. This is not a movie theatre, all other rinks charge ~$3.50. Why? So every child gets a bag, few if any parents scoff at such a low price. I highly recommend looking at the Centennial rink in nearby Etobicoke, this is still a prime example of how a concession works at a hockey rink.
Original Review
So here’s the main issue I have with the new ownership group, their food concession stand in the complex with 3 ice pads is fairly bad. I frequent Paramount restaurants often, I doubt this is run by the same organization, it must be contracted out to a 3rd party.
I was there on Sunday November 18th between 6 and 9 when the service was the worst ever. In my case the three boys working had no experience whatsoever dealing with food or people and were by no means dressed as though they belonged behind the counter. The rink staff cleaning out garbage bins were far more professional, friendly, and clean. The individual serving my hot drink had his fingers all over the lip of my cup as he fiddled with getting the drink ready. No one was washing their hands and the place looked a mess in the back. A friend was sick the next day after eating a shawarma - I assume it is related to their cleanliness. And no one knew prices, everything had to be checked on the computer - they told one individual that a small chocolate bar was $5.
On the positive side the young girl working was at least pleasant and cracking a smile.

Read moreI was at Paramount Fine Foods Centre on Saturday November 23rd between 5PM and 7PM for my son's hockey game. I decided I would enjoy in some fires with gravy t the quick food counter between rink 2 and 3. I've been to Paramount restaurants so I know the food is generally good. The 1 star rating is not based on the food, but rather the service which any good purveyor of food would know is just as important. First my order was forgotten and had to ask again as I notice someone who had ordered after me received their fries with gravy before me. I mentioned it to the male worker that I notice a customer who had ordered after me received his before me. There was no apology. What bothered me is what happened next. After I received my order, the employee proceeded to offer a free order of fries to a customer who had ordered coffee right in front of me. As you can imagine how I may have felt as someone who paid $6, received their order late only to witness someone who just ordered, receive a free order. While I'm happy for the gentleman's good fortune, I thought it was bad form to do that in front of customers who had paid for their food. To top it off I looked at the employee and he looked at me as if to tell me I made a mistake by complaining. I work for a prominent customer satisfaction measurements company and this is simply poor form and not becoming of a company such as Paramount Fine Foods. I will not be purchasing any items at Paramount establishments going forward and will be sure to recall this story to...
