This mall has been around since 1973 and was a great mall in its heyday from the 70s-90s. It was always a favourite place to shop with my family growing up & as a young adult. Unfortunately since mid 2000s the mall has has a decline in traffic, & this plus the movement of the economy has forced many stores there to shut or move. In the past there were Sears, Walmart, Woolco, Independent Grocer, Steinburgs, Reitmans, Suzy Sheer, Tanjay, Aldo, RadioShack, Laura Secord, Music World, a bank & three jewelry stores, plus many smaller non-chain stores & food counters that are no longer there!!! The mall is now undergoing a major reno with a newer layout that hopefully will attract more businesses. Currently there is Staples, Planet Fitness, Bulk Barn, Shoppers Drugmart, Northern Reflections, The Source, Tender Tootsies, Charm, Coles Book Store plus some smaller businesses & offices. The mall is not a hip place to hang out for the time being, however it is rather a bright quiet place to go read a book or take a stroll plus do "a little" shopping. Also it is hosts community events & fundraisers throughout the year & contains murals depicting the "birth" of the Canadian flag here...
Read moreThe 1000 islands plaza leaves you wondering when....when is this place going to come back to life? It was over two years ago when they stopped allowing people inside the mall, and all stores accessed that way closed down. We lost a lot of businesses that day. Now only stores that can be accessed from the outside of the mall are available and the Chinese Buffet Restaurant is gone, yes gone. The place everyone went to for buffet in Brockville, the only buffet place we had, gone. The stores left there are pretty good, but no specialty shops anymore. Nowhere to walk inside, or go to the food court. The real mall feeling is gone. It I basically now a shoppers Drug Mart, Fitness Place, and a couple other stores. All personality of this...
Read moreThe sales ladies were very helpful and answered all our questions. We are lucky to have a Leons store in Brockville. Unfortunately I don't think the sales ladies or the actual store gets it's due credit. Often after being able to view an item in person the customer leaves to consider the item and then finds it is easier to order online than return to the store. Had we not been able to see the quality of the working fireplace in person I doubt we would have ordered it. A big thank you to the sales ladies and Leon for have a real store...
