ART OF IDEAS GALLERY — Attraction in Ontario

The Art of Ideas Gallery tour is truly an experience full of wonder! The house on its own triggers the imagination with a combination of French and Italian architecture and all-original woodwork and flooring worthy of days of exploration. But the house is owned by a visionary artist who takes the patron on a visual journey via his paintings, photographs, and sculptures, from humanity's distant past to a possible future far beyond what most people attempt to imagine: a future where people and machines merge into a cybernetic organism that travels to the stars! Some of my favorite pieces include the backlit photographs of linear vs. spatial types of thinking, the first floor's display of ships in various stages of evolution and exploration, and the final paintings on the top floor that must be experienced first-hand rather than spoiled with my completely inadequate description. Even approaching the house through the garden deserves an hour of viewing. There are multiple islands with sculptures, monoliths, flowers, trees, and two mirror-reflected, spine-like metal objects that defy categorization. You must make a point of visiting this exhibit. It will create or at least exponentially expand the part of your thinking that wonders how far we have come and how far...

We’re very fortunate to have attended many delightful events at “The Art of Ideas Gallery” - including the tour! Florin and Elena have created a gorgeous, must-see experience in this one-of-a-kind 19th century home in St. Marys. When you arrive, first you’ll marvel at the eclectic and innovative gardens surrounding the home. Step inside and Elena will describe the house’s history and exquisite, original design. Florin will then showcase his art - paintings, photographs - which, beyond their beauty, will inspire reflection. There are also many other fascinating “objets d’art” inside… interesting machines and instruments they’ve acquired that you’d be hard pressed to see anywhere else.

What an amazing experience! The gallery is special through so many aspects, and the vision of the artist is mind blowing. The collections are telling stories from the past to the future, and we left the place with the desire to start learning! Highly recommended for art lovers and for curious people! At the end of the tour, the owners recommended to visit the town, which is a hidden gem, with nice boutiques, good coffee shops, and beautiful parks.
