The Palace Theatre is a legendary venue with tons of stories and history. Read moreThis is not so much a review for the theatre itself as it is for the recent play I went to see: Marion Bridge. It was put on by Theatre Aezir, a not for profit theatre group, and it is hands down one of (if not THE best) play I've ever seen. It is not the kind of play I would have normally gone to see (I am more of a Charlie's chocolate factory, Mary Poppins kind of girl) but ended up with tickets for this so went to see it. The three main actresses were phenomenal, each playing one of three sisters in the story of Marion Bridge, each capturing my heart in their own way. I wish I could have the characters - Louise, Agnes and Theresa - as friends in real life. I can't say enough good things about the production of this and will definitely be keeping my eyes open for more of Theatre...
Read moreI love the Palace. It's perfect for community theatre, it has a wonderful ambiance inside and you can feel the history. The last movie I saw there was the Michael Keaton Batman during its original run and I've seen countless plays at both the main stage and in Procunier Hall. It's a wonderful feel.
Production-wise, it can be hit and miss. I've seen some great shows there and I've seen some terrible shows. But that's fair to say about any location. Procunier can get a little stuffy during the warmer months, due to its close quarters, but if you get a good play, the intimacy of that venue...
