It is sad, since Gateway took over, the place has really gone downhill. I used to go every Monday at about 9 at night, eat a meal in the restaurant, and then gamble after with my weekly budget of $160, I would usually last till about 1 in the morning, and walk away ahead about 60% of the time. Since Gateway took over, I have walked out of that casino ahead THREE times out of at least 30 visits. Before Gateway took over, the casino used to have a bustling atmosphere, with jackpot bells ringing left right and center, people having a good time, and they used to even show that days big winners on the TV screens and what game they won on. Now they don't show the daily jackpot winners because I am pretty sure there aren't any. Also the casino is quiet, no bells, no jackpot winners no excited people. Its now just an endless room of miserable looking and complaining people, and I don't blame them. I myself have upped my budget to $200 a visit, and am broke after an hour or earlier (I have even lowered my bets to try to stretch my money out longer). It is unfortunate, it used to be a great form of entertainment for myself as I don't drink, but the last ten visits or so have just been frustrating and not fun at all. The slots are the tightest I have ever seen them. It is just absolutely no fun when you NEVER win a thing. My favorite machine with a $5 bet, used to pay $100 for a line of bars, now it conveniently only pays $15. Bonuses have become predictable as well because they always are guaranteed to award the lowest possible amount. I am certain that it is because instead of the casino having to split profits with Western Fair and OLG, they now have to split it with Western Fair, OLG and Gateway too, and that extra cost is for sure coming out of the winnings pool. Also meal comps are virtually impossible to obtain, I used to be able to get one almost every week, now I ask for one once every three months, and they always say "ooh, I don't know? , I am going to have to bypass the system and I can maybe give you $10" Then the next day I'll go to the Woodstock casino and ask for a comp for $10 and they ask if I want $25 instead, what is that about? I am a gold member, as are my parents however they receive more offers then I do, because the kiosks never offer anything anymore, and I requested to have physical mail sent to me but never get anything. I know the casino is a business, and the house always wins, but could you throw us a bone every now and again? I am done with your one armed bandits, I'd be better off just burning my money or using it as toilet paper. Good luck filling a full sized casino with these business ethics, the tiny casino we have now seems to just be getting emptier and emptier every week, and now here is now more person gone. I will continue to patron the restaurant, as it is very good. My two stars are solely for the restaurant and the lovely people...

Payouts are few and far between, restaurant closes early now, and the discount you finally get after getting a gold card has been taken away on sandwiches cookies etc after the restaurant has been closed so you pay full price , the discount has been lowered as well for the restaurant it was 20% now its 15% . You used to get the occasional cash back not now its use it and loose it on the the machine. Over 80% of the redemption machines that are all over the casino that are there for making it easier to cash in your winnings never have money in them so you have to walk to the front to cash in, and they hardly ever fill the redemption machines so if it's out of $20 then you get all $5 dollar bills for your money , I've even told them there out of money and hours later there still out. Gum is under most chairs so don't try to put your hand under the chairs to move it up towards the machine its gross . There is very rarely any ice in the self serve drink machine on the floor . Now with the new card system the viewing size of the game has shrunk, most people go out to buy big screen TVs to enjoy a better viewing area not down grade to a smaller size I'm not impressed at all. Gateway casino doesn't control the heating or air conditioning Western Fair does so at times its way to cold or hot and there are areas in the casino where air conditioning blows directly on you making you want to get a winter jacket I told them about this over 5 years ago then again it's still the same . I must say that the staff are absolutely amazing but there jobs are made harder by all of the above, making most patrons upset and grumpy taking it out on them and it's not fair . Please watch out for the people lurking around the parking lot asking for money, sometimes they bike right up to you scaring the life out of you and I've been asked several times even at the entrance to the building . Another thing that's horrible is the parking lot its falling apart so bad that pot holes are like the abyss and if it's raining be prepared to get your shoes soaked from all the sunken areas of the parking lot . And if the Western Fair is on have fun parking then . Another crazy change is that the priority line is only for the Elite card holders Gold doesnt count so the line up now is twice the size in the regular line up, so after trying to get Gold it doesnt count for much . I've been going to this place for awhile and I'm thinking it's time to go to a different one that looks after everything to make it a more enjoyable gaming experience. By the way for this place being a flagship for Gateway the ship is going down fast, when you care more about less winnings for patrons that includes all the above, and it's getting worse as you move forward wow I don't know what business strategy you have going but it looks like it's...

The percentage of wins in the slot machines have been tightened up even more than when OLG owned the casino, and it's hard to even to get a bonus or double twenty dollars. So if your expecting to win Good Luck it's not happening. You used to be able to use your players card for discounts on chips cookies etc they took it away. And they recently raised the price of for example a large cookie was $1.90 now it's $3.40 and a bottle of water will cost you $3 chocolate bar is over $3 . They cross train there staff to be able to lower man hours even more than before. The staff are amazing but stressed because of Gateway, they are over worked and alot of the regular full time employees were let go when they came to work. I can only imagine what's it's like working for a place that only thinks of money. There is a saying give a little get alot. Well now Gateway is always giving away free items to win back there regular patrons that don't come in as often but what happens is they come in pick up the freebie and leave, it's hard to win back patrons when we all can see what they are all about. If there was a negative star rating to pick I would have, the star rating I would give the staff for putting up with such a horrible company and for being such amazing workers is 5 plus . When your at the casino ask others they will all tell you all Gateway cares about is making money it used to be fun to hear the sound of jackpots now good luck you don't hear very many bells and whistles because jackpots are at higher amounts they do this so you spend everything. I used to get a few jackpots per year now none at all. When you get a bonus since the machines are tightened up you can't even double a $20 they should be ashamed of themselves. Also you used to go in and put your card into a machine and then leave and use the money at another time now the amount for Wednesday if you don't use it you lose it. I'm a Gold member and I don't get free stuff anymore so talk about cheap I'm thinking of going to other casinos do that I have a better chance at winning. My wife and I went to Mohawk Casino and each time our money lasted longer and we went home with winnings also they send you an email with a huge amount to come back to there casino to play. If your thinking about working there they have cut hours big time some staff that were getting 5 days of work now get 3 days, good luck making money there and you will be stressed out trying to get everything done on less hours.
