This was such a pleasant experience. I took my first ever Harbour Air Seaplane trip this weekend from Richmond/YVR. I booked online a few days in advance and arrived to check in 30 minutes before my trip, as they asked. The people at the counter were very personable and walked me through their process. There was zero attitude about my not knowing the process, which is something I've experienced in other businesses. If I said anything dumb they didn't let on :) They told me exactly what they wanted me to do, and it went smoothly! The waiting area had lots of nice comfy seats, hand sanitizer, and a coffee machine. I think there were 3 people at the plane helping us board, including helping a mom get her young child up into the plane. I also travelled back to this terminal, and I witnessed the folks helping us off the plane carry a checked stroller to the parents, and later I saw those parents outside the terminal thanking an employee for helping them all the way out the front door of the terminal, which was so kind because the ramp from the water to the terminal was crazy steep, and they had rolling luggage in addition. The seatbelt was too small for me, so in the Nanaimo terminal on my way back I asked at check-in if they had seatbelt extenders, and they kindly ensured there were some on board and discretely handed them to me when I was seated. They had extenders for both the seatbelt and the floatation device. Everyone was just so kind and...
Read moreI'm writing a review for a specific lady behind the check-in counter who worked around 5-6pm on April 23rd, 2025. Absolutely the loudest & most obnoxious person working there.
We're 2 adults & 2 children waiting for our table at Flying Beaver. We had waited outside the building for almost 30 minutes before heading back inside among other customers & Harbour Air passengers. The restaurant itself shares the space with the seaplane's waiting room.
Not 10 minutes had passed, this lady asked us if we're passengers and if not, we have to wait outside the building. While we're trying to walk away from the building, she quickly proceeded to speak on the loud speaker & repeated the same thing 3 times. We were unbothered, so were other customers who knew they had the rights to be there.
She needs to be let go, honestly. The seaplane's waiting room should be made more private for passengers but if the restaurant is there too, who is she to tell everyone that? Restaurant's customers pay for their food just like the passengers pay for their tickets. Plus the restaurant has way more customers than the seaplanes, how is everyone supposed to hear their name being called if they are all outside?
The greeter at Flying Beaver did tell us she had always done that.
Picture of the rude lady will follow if I ever return to eat in the restaurant. The food, service, & ambiance in the restaurant...
Read moreI grew up in Victoria and live in the Richmond area now. I finally booked HA to go over and had a good experience, even though it wasn't an ideal situation. On the way over it was quite windy and the little plane was getting bumped around all over the place. It was a rough ride but the pilot did a really great job of keeping it as steady as possible and the landing in Victoria was like a dream. So smooth (I was a little worried about the landing part after watching these planes for years) Unfortunately, I was unable to return on the service the following day as they were not flying due to fog. I had purchased the absolute cheapest fare and I was delighted that I was refunded fully with no issues at all. While I was unhappy that I had to make a run for the ferry and then navigate getting to my car, which was left at YVR South, I did appreciate that they didn't try and fly when it wasn't safe in order to make money. Maybe it would have been nice if there was anything to help with the time I lost (like a cab voucher or something? I don't really know), but in the end, I was just happy to get all my money back, I guess. I would fly with them again, but maybe when there's less chance of weather interruptions. Luckily, I wasn't really on a tight schedule, so as much as I was sad to lose half my day off trying to get home, I didn't miss work or an...
