Awhile ago I went to this location. I have been there before and other locations and every person I got was welcoming and warm, they were also ok with my husband being there sitting in a guest chair for support. I was really drawn to this place because they really went out of their way to make me comfortable which is key when letting someone wax you in sensitive areas. I go to book in my next monthly appointment and get someone who I haven’t had before. We walk to the door and she starts freaking out asking what my Husband thinks he’s doing. I said all other times we have come it was ok to have him there and he would just sit in the guest chair in the room on his phone. She got very upset and demanded my husband go sit back down. Ok fine no big deal a bit odd her reaction but maybe she’s not comfortable with that. We get to the waxing, it was so painful it was like she was in a huge hurry every other time I got an hour long appointment at least as they took their time, and small areas but with her it was twenty five minutes if that and she was done and I use that word loosely . Not only did she rip huge chunks off causing it to be immediately sore and area very agitated, she also in her rush to get done other things happened leaving me feeling violated, I was at a loss for words the whole time not sure what to do then when she left the room I noticed she left most of the wax. I tried to tell her but she ran out the door and no one was interested in talking to me afterwards. Feeling embarrassed and humiliated I just wanted to get out of there. My husband paid we left. After awhile I was feeling very violated and felt that my experience was against what they represented and it should be brought to their attention because I didn’t want someone else going through that. I got ahold of a supervisor finally at another location as uptown’s was not in. She was very sympathetic and apologetic to my situation, she offered to cancel my membership for me which I was grateful for, I felt heard and seen. She let me know she would let the people who needed to be notified aware and they may need to call me and ask me some follow up questions, no problem. Next day I got a phone call from the manager at uptown who without saying so much of a hello said just so you know we won’t be allowing people bring others into the rooms anymore at any location all of the chairs will be removed. That wasn’t the problem, the problem was of the service I received, she then said well you got a refund that’s should be good enough and hung up. I felt very ashamed and that I was the guilty one for something I didn’t do. I’m not saying all locations are bad but this one while being a manager myself I was shocked how she talked and treated me. Take this as you will but I will definitely not be spending my patronage...
Read moreUnfortunately, I did not have a good experience at Foxy Box - Uptown location. After receiving an initial (very positive!) consultation for a laser hair removal service, I went to my laser hair removal service only to be refused after conflicting information from the consultation to the service appointment by different employees. The refusal was delivered in an unprofessional manner, rude and frustrated, while I was totally exposed on the table. I was told multiple times they didn't have time for me and I would be cut up with the shaving razor in preparation for the hair removal. I felt like a product in a factory line. I was then rescheduled, but then didn't even receive a rescheduling notification or follow-up. So I'm not quite sure what happened, but the lack of communication, rude delivery, and lack of follow-up was unfortunate. I have since recommended multiple friends against going to Foxy Box due to...
Read moreMany thanks to the ladies at Uptown - they went the extra mile. When one of the practitioners felt uncomfortable doing laser on my face, the wonderful women here offered to A) find me another therapist who would be willing or B) reschedule. Also, one of the women even said she "trusts [me]" in being educated in my decision to go ahead despite the risks.
How wonderful is that that someone would be willing to allow you to make your own decisions and not be worried about lawsuits, etc? I was floored. So much so that I said I would have happily forfeited my gift card $100 just because of the amazing and exceptional service (we're moving out east where there are no franchises).
I have actually never had such great service. Please, please open a franchise in Eastern Canada and I will be there in a heartbeat. Thank you! I will always treasure...
