Our experience with Standard Furniture has been terrible. We ordered a chair for our bedroom with fabric covering. All was well up to this point. We had put a 50% deposit on the chair. Before the chair arrived at the store we went back to the store to measure the sample chair they still had on the floor. We were concerned that the chair might be too wide to fit through the doorway to our bedroom. We were told that if we paid for their delivery then the guys doing the delivery were very experienced and would most likely get it through the door. Our question was what would happen if it would not go in. Their response was "Too bad". Fortunately the delivery guys did get the chair into our bedroom. However the $900 chair looked like a used chair. The upholstery work was wrinkled and unacceptable. We visited the store the next day (Saturday) to discuss our situation and we were told that the folks that handled those situations would not be in until Tuesday. While we were there we walked around the store looking at other upholstered chairs and didn't see any other fabric chair that looked as bad as our brand new one. Then we had to wait until Thursday before we got a callback. At that point we were asked to send photos of our chair - which we did. Then we were told that the wrinkles on our chair were "normal" and it was not returnable or exchangeable. The attitude of the folks at Standard Furniture was unacceptable. We were then told to come down to the store and they would show us all of the in-stock fabric chairs on the floor and they would all show wrinkles the same as ours. As we had already gone back there and looked at the fabric chairs on the floor - none of which was as bad as ours - we decided that it would be a waste of our time. Overall the store does not, in our opinion, provide any after purchase service. If you are looking for quality furniture and superior after sales service I would go to Scan Design in Langford for the most exceptional service we have ever...

I came to Standard Furniture on the recommendation of my interior designer, and I must say, they have nice furniture.
However, my experience with their business practices has been extremely disappointing. In October 2024, I verbally agreed to purchase furnishings for my living room, and a $2,500 deposit was taken without any receipt or invoice provided (a mistake on my part for trusting them). Unfortunately, things did not work out, and I decided not to proceed with the purchase. The owner verbally assured me at that time that I would be refunded within a few business days.
To resolve the situation amicably, I even offered to use the deposit toward other goods. The owner reassured me, saying, "It's all good, shit happens," and confirmed the refund would be processed. Based on this confirmation, I proceeded to purchase furniture elsewhere.
Despite the promise, the refund never came. Over the following weeks and months, I made multiple attempts to resolve this by calling, texting, and visiting the store in person, but I was consistently given the runaround. By December 2024, the owner told me that his brother was upset because they had held a couch for me, and as a result, they decided to refuse the refund.
Now, in January 2025, after three months of delays and broken promises, I still have not received the refund. Will they ever pay me back?
Going back on your word and failing to honor a promised refund is, in my view, unacceptable and unprofessional conduct. This experience has been incredibly frustrating and disappointing, and I would strongly caution others to proceed with care when dealing with...
Read moreStandard furniture is by far the worst experience I have ever had while purchasing $3,700 worth of furniture. We were given the floor model after waiting 6 weeks for what was supposed to be a new chair from the manufacturer Natuzzi in Italy. My receipt stated an estimated 16 weeks for it to arrive. The manager called and lied saying the manufacturer had an early shipment special. The other two pieces were also floor models even though a discount was applied, we were told the discount was for making the purchase that same day for all 3 items. The store tag was found in the chair which we picked up at the warehouse. When we approached the manager, Marc Samar, at the store, he denied everything and claimed it was a new chair and not the floor model. I also have photos of us sitting on the floor model and can prove the same chair was sold to us by unique characteristics not to mention the tag. The worst part was being lied to and having to wait 6 weeks for furniture that should’ve been ours from day one. A discount should’ve been offered since we paid full price for a floor model. We have since purchased over $12,000 worth of Timothy Oultin furniture from Luxe - a much better store with better staff. I will never go back to Standard furniture and I tell everyone that is shopping to...
