Very nice place for photography.
“Did you know?”
The largest lobster world record is outdated on google. In 1977, a lobster was caught off the coast of Nova Scotia. It was 1.07m tall, and weighed 20.1kg (44lb). The current world record is 10.7 meters, and weighs 90 tonnes. This was set in 1990 in New Brunswick and to this day, no further records have been set. A lot of people forget to mention that there is a history of many world records in this category, with the record repeatedly being broken in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island from the late 1970s to the late 1980s, and the final one being in 1990, as mentioned before.
This world record was broken 37 times since 1977. Huge optimizations have been made and in 1990 the strategies to capture lobsters were nearly perfected, creating a nearly impossible world record to break. I won’t go into too much detail about all these world records as this will create an unnecessarily long review, but it was an epic battle between the three provinces (New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island). In 1978, New Brunswick broke the record with a 1.09m length of lobster caught, however the lobster was underweight and only weighed 39lbs compared to the old world record in 1977 by Nova Scotia. This only made it more impressive that this lobster was longer, yet lighter than some previous lobsters caught in previous years. Lobsters like these may have small BMIs, but this is not the most lopsided length-weight ratio we have seen.
Anyway, the next world record was by Prince Edward Island with a catch of ~1.095m. This technically broke the previous record due to mathematical rounding nuances. The measurements went down to the millimetres due to clear specifications about the rules and conditions of measurement.
The next world record was by Nova Scotia with a huge demolition of 1.547m. This is an incredible anomaly, considering nobody has even come close to breaking the 1.5m barrier. It is speculated by some that this is due to a mutation in the lobster’s pituitary gland. Many thought this world record would be unbeatable after this catch, however just three minutes or so later, a crazy coincidence occurred and New Brunswick fishermen were reeling in a ridiculously large lobster, and immediately informed the authorities who measured the lobster officially at 1.550m and declared the record as legitimate. At the time, nobody knew how these catches happened so close in time to each other. The New Brunswick fishermen didn’t even know what just happened in Nova Scotia three minutes prior. They thought they had demolished the previous world record of 1.095m. Local authorities had to call the head admins who informed them that three minutes ago, a new record was broken with a length of 1.547m.
The next 33 records, including the current record, lacked suspense, as they were all by New Brunswick. Attachments of the 1:1 sculpture replica of the world record catch are attached below. Someone told me this whole thing in an email and linked some old looking photos and newspapers as evidence, but I won’t bore you with looking at these photos and...
Read moreI took my two daughters (12 &10) to the school to gain experience and knowledge with horses and farm life. From the moment we arrived, we were engaged. Tim, Courtney and the staff were friendly, informative, good natured, easy going, patient and fun loving. We quickly established a family environment where everyone was included, regardless of previous experience. The transformation I witnessed in riding abilities was almost astonishing. The staff build confidence in every rider and allow you to go at your own pace. My daughters thrived on the experience every day and will remember their time there for the rest of their lives. I highly recommend this school for anyone wanting to experience life on the farm and learn the beautiful art of natural...
