A unique trail 300 feet up in the air! This trail follows the old and now defunct railway line that used to connect London to Port Stanley. The trail is not easy to find. The exit of the road into St Thomas is clearly marked but the next left turn just before the Jumbo the Elephant statue is only marked by a tiny tiny sign so is easy to miss. The trail is a lovely easy walk after an initial short stretch of a fairly steep climb. You follow a nice wide path surrounded by wild flowers and towering trees on both sides of the path. After about a half km you reach the boardwalk section over the old railway bridge where the 360 degree views are magnificent over the forested landscape north to London and south to Lake Erie. Along the bridge there are multiple works of art that are nice to view and great conversation pieces. Most of our conversations about the art where along the lines of "what is that all about" 😁😀 Overall this is a unique and highly recommended trail. Well done to the city of St Thomas for this great...
Read moreVery cool trail that takes you along the bridge above sunset drive. You park not far from Jumbo the elephant so you might as well see both attractions if your not from st Thomas. The view from the bridge across a few farms is quite beautiful. We also ventured a bit beyond the bridge down a path that heads into farm land. Not sure how far the path goes.. choose your adventure.
There is interesting metal art along the short path also. Safe for kids because the bridge is fenced in and has rails (Keep your toddlers close at the beginning just before bridge starts as there are spaces in the path where they can head into the forest and right down a large hill)
Only 4 stars because I wish there were more interesting benches and play equipment for kids. It would be a fun spot to picnic if the kids could play up there. The metal art does have one interactive piece that makes noise when you bang a...
Read moreDrove here from Toronto on a warm windy day in October and wasn't disappointed at all, I didn't get to do the entire trail all the way to the east side as it was a spontaneous trip and my wife didn't have good shoes.
The elevated portion was a smaller chunk of the trail which I had not understood based on reviews but it definitely brings a charm and experience that u can't feel anywhere else.
There were wild berries farther in, would have just made it for these amazing tastes.
If you are driving through London definitely worth the 20 min detour, and if u are here on a busier day make sure to come around from top to park on the lot not on the smaller road side hill parking leading to the ramp, because you don't have access there to the lot over a green...
